  • Amazing Family Vacation

"My family (myself, my husband, 9yr old son, 6yr old daughter and my mother in law) stayed at the cabin for a week. It was a relaxing, rejuvenating, all around enjoyable week. The cabin is perfectly appointed with all you could need for your summertime stay. The water was the main attraction: fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and more. In addition, we were able to spend time simply sitting at the waters edge and watching the birds (heron, hawks, ducks, kestrel, and swifts to name a few) and other lake wildlife and listening to the peaceful sounds of the lake. The area is not overrun with motor boats or load parties. It was truly peaceful. The lake house interior was very clean and comfortable. There is a separate bedroom with bath for my mother in law and a very large shared bedroom space for the kids and us. There is air conditioning, but during our August stay we simply left the windows open and enjoyed the constant cross-breezes provided by being on the point. We mostly cooked at the house, but have to recommend Samascotts homemade ice cream and white kernel corn on the cob. Thank you, Roman and Pat for opening your home to us. It was wonderful."

  • Perfect Family Getaway

"My family and I rented this fantastic home for the month of August and couldn't have been happier with each and every aspect of the rental. We were looking for an escape from New York City and this property had everything we were looking for and more. From the pond, the nature trails, the swing set and trampoline - our children had an absolute blast. Each day we enjoyed playing tennis and swimming in the pool while each night we barbecued and relaxed by the outdoor fireplace. The house was big enough to allow our family members to come for a visit and the kitchen and sun room are perfectly set up for entertaining. With Rhinebeck, Red Hook and Hudson not too far away we made the most of our taste of the Hudson Valley. Couple all of this with owners who were incredibly responsive to all of our needs and you have an absolute winner. We will definitely be coming back in the future."

  • Beautiful home with all amenities

"A terrific home, just few minutes away from Rhinebeck. But far enough to enjoy the stillness and quiet of the surroundings. Deposit returned quickly. Attentive and helpful owners. We will not hesitate this place to any of our friends."

  • Great Place for a Family Reunion

"Our family, with 6 adult couples, 3 additional adults, 3 little children and 2 babies rented this unit and the adjoining one with the same owner. We had 4 adult couples and 2 adults in this unit, with one adult in the den and another in a blowup bed in the living room -- not ideal, but it worked. The baby and one child shared a room with their parents, and two other small children had the double bed. The four bedrooms are spacious (one has only a double bed) and private. There are two outdoor showers, one adjoining a bedroom. There is also a pull-out couch in a small open den: the bed is fine, but the room is open so there's no privacy or sound insulation. The loft is really not useful for sleeping as it is accessed by a ladder and is very narrow and open to the double bed below: a fun place to play, maybe, but not safe for children to sleep and probably not comfortable for adults. Both houses were beautifully decorated, well appointed, and very clean. We asked and received extra cots, blow-up beds, cribs and high chairs. The kitchens were stocked with all sorts of appliances, pots and pans, dishes, cleaning supplies. The stove in 406384 was very high-end as was the barbecue grill. There was great seating for meals both inside and out. The docks had lovely seating as well. There were kayaks, canoes, a rowboat and a paddle boat. The lake was spectacular: the one downside is that you have to take a boat to a raft to access the water because there is too much vegetation and mud near the lake edge. The water at the raft was clear. We loved all the perennial plantings and made use of the vegetable gardens and blueberry bushes. Grocery shopping was a 20 minute drive, but there were a number of very nearby farm stands to get fresh corn, tomatoes, peaches, eggs, meat and other produce. We were pleasantly surprised that the bugs weren't too bad. We were able to eat dinner on the deck without even lighting the torches. During the day there were some gnats and we did use bug spray when we walked on the grass in the morning and evening. The rental agent was very helpful in answering our many questions and requisitioning extra beds. Overall, we highly recommend this house and its sister location."
