"We booked the house very last minute due to last minute cancellation and could not be happier. I already gave up searching as everything was super-overpriced or booked. This house had a great price for what we god. It is 2.5 hours driving from downtown NYC where we live. The house was easy to find although cell phone reception in the area is very poor. Our friends got there before us and got to meet the housekeeper who finished preparing the house for us. It was clean!!! We were 4 adults with 2 small kids and a medium-sized dog. It is a 2 story house with 2nd floor being a major entertainment area and sleeping area downstairs. Upstairs also had a master bedroom which is very nice and neat. Living room is not huge but is of good size for a party of around 6, 6 seating places at the dining table. Nice fireplace which we had not had a chance to use. Apple TV was nice. Deck is very spacey with table/benches. We enjoyed cooking our meals at the gas grill and had our dinners and breakfasts outside. It was of perfect temperature, but no direct sun on the deck. I was thinking it would benefit from some lounge chairs, just an idea! The property is mostly wooded and it was very nice to enjoy the greenery of the trees and birds singing while sitting at the deck. Unfortunately there is not much property outside of the house that is easily available and usable. The house is right next to the small road with very little traffic. The lawn was tiny, with a fire pit surrounded by forest. My boys like to play soccer and Frisbee, unfortunately there was no space for that. But we had a blast at the Colgate lake which is only about 15 minutes drive. The kitchen was very well equipped. Lots of pots and pans, lots of cutlery and plates. Such a great selection of glasses! Microwave, coffee-maker, toaster-oven, dishwasher all worked great! Fridge was stocked with some condiments. We bought bottled water as water from the sink had tiny bit of sulfur smell. Downstairs there were 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and a small living room with play station, TV and large couch. It was nice and cool downstairs so I totally did not feel the need for AC, which is frequently a concern when traveling with small kids. Both bathrooms were well stocked with clean towels and water was nice and warm. I can totally see how this is a great winter house and would love to come back during the ski season. Overall we had a great time and amazing experience! Super clean! Coming back!"

"I have actually stayed at this property twice , Both times my Family rented the entire place for Christmas (2012 & 2013, calendar would not allow those options).
Our host Michel (hope I spelled that correctly) was excellent, there when you need him & privacy when you don't.
The property is beautifully restored with large working fireplaces , antiques, and beautiful features throughout. Both times we had it decorated for the holiday, it was excellently done & made the whole experience so cosy and picturesque I felt like I was in a different time!
Although we didn't get to use the pool, it looks amazing as do the grounds, so I do hope to make it back in another season,
I would highly recommend this property for an amazing stay, I plan to stay again whenever possible,

"We spent time at Le Petit Chateau last year when it was a B&B. Although no longer a B&B, it is still a delightfully beautiful home in a gorgeous area. 5 minutes to the CIA (get take-out lunch there and return to your "home away" to enjoy a "picnic" by the peaceful pond), 10 minutes to the Walkway across the Hudson, and 30 minutes or less in any direction will bring you to all the historic sites in the area. We stayed in the Champagne room with its very comfortable bedding, nicely-designed bathroom, and plenty of room to relax and rest. It was nice to get up when we wanted to, prepare breakfast, go for a walk on the back roads in the area, and enjoy the peace and beauty of the property. Valerie provided great guidance on some places to see and was so helpful with our reserving the house. We were thrilled to be able to spend time at Le Petit Chateau again to celebrate our anniversary and savor time spent in this lovely house, all of its charm, and the beautiful location. Thank you so much for the opportunity to enjoy, relive old memories, and create new ones during our time in Hyde Park."

"Barn on The Pond is the perfect weekend escape, vacation destination for relaxation, and beautiful venue for a variety of events.
We were lucky enough to stay for a beautiful week in October at the peak of the leaves changing in beautiful weather. The minute we stepped into the home, we were immediately in vacation mode-- it's hard not to be with its serene property, beautiful high open ceilings and a welcoming decor. The kitchen was made for entertaining, whether that's hosting a holiday for family, pepping for an event, or simply cooking dinner for 2 or 12. The bedrooms are all warm and inviting and to sit by the fire-- either inside in the living room listening to records or outside upstairs, cozied up looking out into the mountains with a drink-- is heaven.
There's a beautiful fire pit that we sat with friends around with a beer to catch up and roast some s'mores and the airbed (basically an XL hammock) is the ideal way to lose track of time staring at the sky.
To look out of our windows or sit on the upper back porch with coffee looking out at the pond and the background of trees and mountains was perfect.
Every amenity was thoughtfully in place. Tripp and his team have thought of everything and go out of their way to make sure your trip is comfortable, enjoyable and memorable.
We were a group of 11 + a our dog and had the best time, even hosting our annual pumpkin beer tasting. There's no lesser accommodations though, even the airstream (about 100 feet from the house) was roomy, funky and fun to stay in.
This is a wonderful hidden gem and we look forward to coming back in the future."
