  • Thanksgiving Retreat

"We stayed for four nights over Thanksgiving weekend and could not be more pleased. The cottage interior is more charming and comfortable than the photos indicate. It was cold outside so we couldn't use the amazing deck overlooking the lake, but the cottage interior is bathed in the most beautiful light, so that you feel a real connection with the outdoors. It has a good heating system so we stayed toasty even with outside temps below freezing. The property owners have a home on the property and were onsite but respected our privacy. We were especially happy to find a property that not only welcomes, but embraces dogs. There was even a little basket of dog toys tucked in the corner. Having said that, the cottage was immaculate and would be fine even if you are not a dog owner. In it's current setup, it is ideal for a couple. The galley kitchen is small but we found everything we needed to do a Thanksgiving dinner for two. Many thanks!"

  • Plesantly Surprised

"This was our second rental for the summer, and I opted for something I though was affordable, yet maybe without all the amenities I usually look for. When we arrived, I was honestly not so excited that other houses were clearly in view and close by. Actually, there are true moments of seclusion, solitude and peace in this home on Kinderhook Lake. During the week there were hardly any boats on the water, and renting the kayaks was great because there are small nooks of undeveloped areas on the lake. I even saw beaver (well, I am a city girl so maybe it was something else). I loved the enclosed deck and used it as my "gym" and we were quite comfortable in the indoor space provided. There are great hikes nearby in the Berkshires, but even sitting on the dock and soaking in the view was amazing. Just what I needed to unwind. It is a simple home, but has everything you need for a wonderful retreat. Also, the owners were more than accomodating and gave us some great tips for the area. I have been renting summer homes for like 10 years now, and I have never thought of going back. I think we will!!! Thanks Maura and Rick!"

  • cozy home for peaceful getaway

"We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely stone house. It was very organized and we appreciated the way the owners opened their house to us. We borrowed a cooler and lawn chairs to take with us while we explored multiple Hudson Valley outdoor events. The Bose sound system was very nice and was a great way to remember to take a break from TV watching. We loved the decor and we enjoyed walking up the backyard path into the woods."
