  • Wonderful home, wonderful owner!

"We had several families share this house for a total of 12 people. There was plenty of room and everyone loved the house. We had young children, teenagers and grandmothers in our group. We loved the lake and the pontoon boat was a treat. The kitchen is wonderful - and is better stocked than most rentals. We will rent this home again when in the area and I've shared the details with other friends who plan to visit. Tons of apple orchards nearby if you're visiting in the fall. Tara House is a great find. Thanks Kevin! P.S. - The best place to shop for groceries nearby is the Price Chopper in Warwick. Very clean newer store with a high end feel, deli, bakery and eatery. It's less than 20 minutes away and prices and selection better than the walmart 30 minutes away."

  • Charming, short weekend stay

"We rented the house primarily as a place to sleep while attending a wedding in nearby Herondale Farms and wound up wishing we had time to just hang around the house and enjoy the property and views. It is wonderfully secluded; no other homes are in view and there. There are woods behind the house and a wonderful large meadow in front. It is the owner's country home and is very warm and personal. Some of the other wedding party stayed in modern houses around Upper Rhoda Pond but they were furnished as rentals and did not have the personal warmth of someone's home. The refrigerator was stocked with the request that we use what we need, replace what we have used up and throw out what was expired. Nice! The house was spotless; the internet did work and that is essential since cell phone reception is nil. There is also a landline for use and the owner considerately provides calling cards for long distance. It took a while to convince the owner to give me the exact location so I could be sure it was the property I viewed on satellite images but seeing how secluded it is I understand why the owner wanted to be sure we were serious renters. The only complaints, that were only from one of my adult sons, was that the beds are very soft, almost like feather beds. My wife loved that! There are nice artisan stores in Millerton, 20 minutes SE on Hwy 8, a good grocery store, and a nearby Alpaca farm. There are a few stairs so it's not wheel chair friendly but I was on crutches and had no problem. It's a lovely, personal home for well behaved guests!"

  • The description doesn't do it justice, this place is amazing!

"A group of friends gathered for a celebration at this amazing house and it was everything we could have asked for and more. The owner greeted us when we arrived, he showed us around and explained the amenities, he was a real nice guy. The interior is enormous and has a good layout. Pool table was in very good shape and there is plenty of room for anything. Nice TV, nice couches, plenty of nice tables and chairs. The bar was large and included very nice bar glasses of all varieties, 3 large industrial coolers like a real bar, nice chairs, and cards and games. Everything you could need. The outdoor grill area was excellent, and we enjoyed sitting around a nice outdoor fire after dark, he even provided the wood! The lake was beautiful with a nice little sandy beach, a sand volleyball court nearby and plenty of open field space. We played everything, cornhole, football, frisbee, wiffleball, and canoe rides! The land is just beautiful and VERY private, you have a whole lake to yourself and all kinds of open fields! I highly recommend this rental home for any type of get-together or celebration. You can tell immediately that it is very well cared for and kept up nice. I just wish that we were able to stay for more than two nights! Enjoy!"

  • Wonderful setting above the Hudson River

"My husband and I had a wonderful 4 night stay at Hilary's apartment. It's in a great location for touring the entire Hudson River Valley. We toured as far south as Sleepy Hollow and north to Olana and the towns of Catskill and Hudson. It's only a short ride to Hyde Park and just outside of the quaint town of Rhinebeck. The apartment is very comfortable with lots of large windows to enjoy the beautiful views of the Hudson River. Hilary is a very gracious host and easy to work with. We would definitely stay here again if visiting the area and would highly recommend it to others."
