"Our family stayed for a week and had a wonderful time, making great memories! We have two boys, 10 and 6 and they were thoroughly entertained the entire time. We all loved the pool, hot tub, tire swing, hammock, basketball hoop, jungle gym, chasing chipmunks all over the yard, eating on the deck, hanging out in the movie room, etc etc. :) There are tons of board games, books and plenty of movies on hand as well as art supplies! Plenty to keep the kids entertained and allow Mom and Dad to relax too. There are also a lot of toys for younger children, if you have them.
The house has every amenity you could want, fully stocked chef kitchen with all the pots and pans, serving dishes you could need and which I really enjoyed cooking in! Not that you need to do much cooking with all the excellent restaurants right in the area. The furniture and linens were comfy. I loved the natural light from the skylights and we mostly had the doors and windows open and were able to enjoy the nice breeze and plentiful ceiling fans but when it got warmer, the house was easily cooled down with AC. I love the cool Hawaiian art prints and antiques. The house itself is just really cool and the vintage decor is gorgeous. I appreciated all the little details that just made it aesthetically pleasing and nice to relax in during our stay. We loved spending quality time together on the deck. All the lovely container gardens made it extra special and pretty. It was easy to forget about work and get away from it all here!
I liked how close the house is to Red Hook and Rhinebeck and the Hudson River generally- we could easily run to the store, pick up food, grab coffee and pastries from Taste Budd's, walk around town...check out the little fried cake stand on Market St! The location is also close to many interesting historical tours, nature walks and a ton of great farmers markets. Great places to bike nearby. Migliorelli's Farmstand is great and I also love Gigi's Farm Market which is very close. At both, you can get raw local honey, maple syrup, some meats and great local produce including amazing sweet corn. We explored Hyde Park and the Roosevelt home and Presidential Library. Another day we enjoyed a great breakfast in Kingston at the Third Rail Diner and played at a fun playground after at Forsyth Park. You just can't go wrong in this area! It's nice to explore or just hang here too.
Thanks Kristen and Steve for sharing your special home with us!!
