"First of all, Carolyn was a responsive owner before and during the stay. She was clearly eager to make her home feel like our home (for all too short a time!).
We had two kids, ages 5 & 7, and cousins aged 10 and 12, plus my mom. Stella Farm has raised the bar for vacation homes in our family -- my kids now expect a huge, bucolic yard, a clean, luxurious pool, and a trampoline!
For the adult/parents, too, this house was a dream. The hammock, the garden, the lawn, the pool, the kitchen, the beds -- the linens were as nice as ones at home! -- the porch (omg the porch!). The house was my vision of a country home.
I took a class at Bard College, and my drive was glorious each morning -- with cornfields and farms all around. The town where the house is located is quiet and rural, away from the tourist traffic, but Rhinebeck is a short drive where you'll find tons to do. We explored a number of little towns easily, and mucked about in the numerous swimming holes. There was fruit picking galore and plenty of places to buy artisan foods.
This place is heaven on Earth. Rent it today!"

"'We' heard about an exhibit in Copake Falls about camps 'in the area' from the 1920's, and on. One thing led to another and 'We' decided that this was the time for a camp reunion. I immediately Gooogled 'Houses in Copake', and lo and behold, this beautiful house, right on, what we knew as Lake Rhoda (now Upper Rhoda Pond) appeared before me. This was almost unbelievable as most of us had not been back to West Copake for a good 50 years. So, after much arranging, 7 of us made our way, as far as Nashville and Colorado to our beloved lake. The house welcomed us with open arms, and the lake, as if we had never left. We almost immediately took out one of the canoes and made our way around the lake. We ate outside on the deck with a well stocked kitchen to make us feel right at home. We chose our BR's easily, as there were 2 sets of Sisters who shared a bed. The next day, we had about 20 people at the house for lunch, and between the outdoor spaces to sit, the welcoming size of the house, nothing ever felt crowded. The BR's were lovely, clean and cozy. Saturday night 3 more people stayed over and they too, were just as comfortable in the Gurst House. We did not get a chance to go swimming, although the lake was warm, we simply were not there long enough. The whole process of renting the house was easy, due to the professionalism of the rental agent/property manager. I do believe that each of us would go back in a heartbeat, and HAPILY stay for more than a weekend."

"We enjoyed a memorable and unique week. The lakefront cabins accommodated our family (4 adults, 5 children) well, and the property was an ideal setting to relax, swim, hike, and explore nearby towns. The description and photos on HomeAway gave an accurate idea of the cabins. Being directly on this clean, scenic lake was a special treat, and the comfortable elevated deck offered beautiful views of the lake, mountains and sunsets. The owner's communications before, during and after our stay proved very helpful. Children and adults found the 2-hour "Floating Classroom" outing, operated by the Lake George Association, a worthwhile and educational activity, helping us better understand the ecology of the lake. We would certainly recommend this property to others seeking a location that's rural and tranquil, yet not too far away from shopping, restaurants, museums, cultural events and other attractions."

"We first rented in 2012 and have gone back each September since. It's too good to move to another location! Easy for our groups as we come from Philly, Boston, CT, NY, NJ, DE.
We have a big group (30-35) depending on the year. It's great to have 16 bedrooms, each with their own bath, for all the adults. The indoor pool is great and the grounds are huge! Plenty of room for croquet, bocce, and other lawn games. There is so much space in the living area of the home that you never feel cramped or on top of each other. You can be reading in the living room and not be bothered by people hanging in the dining room, porch or pool area.
We would definitely recommend to any big group."
