  • Lovely Cottage, with convenient location and even better view

"In the last few years, I have stayed at a few rentals in (and around) New Paltz, with a focus on those geared towads smaller parties (2, 3, or even 4 in a pinch). This one is definitely the nicest of any that I've seen so far. The cottage itself is cozy and welcoming, with a picture-perfect view of the river, and field beyond, outside of the back windows. The kitchen was ready to serve the serious chef; it was well-stocked with cooking supplies, spices, oils, and other cooking incidentals. The sofa and beds were all quite comfortable; this is never something to be taken for granted. And there was very convenient access to the WallKill Valley Rail Trail, which saved the hassle of having to load the bikes on the car to reach the trail. Lastly, it was a very short car ride to reach New Paltz. Moreover, Eva was very responsive with questions that I emailed her about the Cottage, before we first saw it. And she was every bit as responsive with voicemail questions that I left her, after we arrived (how are us technophobes to figure out the DVD player?). All in all, a lovely and convenient rental home--not to mention rental experience--with no surprises whatsoever."

  • The best hang out!

"My friends and I stayed at the house on Brown's Pond last weekend and had an immensely good time. If you're looking for a place with a relaxing atmosphere and nice views for a group to spend the weekend away from the rest of the world in, you can't go wrong with this one. The owner was friendly and made us right at home. Hopefully we can get back up there again soon!"

  • A memorable Thanksgiving

"Thanksgiving in the Catskills was just perfect. My entire family stayed together. All the bedrooms were extremely comfortable and quiet. The owners choice of linens and towel was lovely. The bathrooms are traditional with a modern flair for comfort. All amenities were appreciated.....flat screen, internet, chef's kitchen with Viking appliances. All this made it pleasureable to cook and spend time with the family. The large country kitchen with the farm table is done very well. We were fortunate to be able to rent such a beautiful and charming home. Thank you!"

  • Idyllic Country Getaway

"My wife and I retreated to the cottage for 3 months this past winter/spring (March - May 2012) from the City. We truly escaped the city as early as possible on the weekends and looked forward to coming to Rhinebeck every Friday to sit by the fire and relax. As previous reviews have stated, the cottage is impeccably well maintained and well equipped with everything that you need: washer/dryer, kitchen with dishwasher, and working fireplace. Towards the end of our stay, we even utilized the screened-in patio and porch for watching the sunset over the Hudson and southern Catskills and cooking out on the grill. There were never any issues with the cottage, but if there had been, the owners would have promptly responded and taken care of everything. The owners were incredibly helpful with suggestions about places to see, visit, and things to do in the area. They provided numerous detailed emails about local shops, groceries, markets, etc. to make our time enjoyable and easy. “The Rhinebeck cottage,” as we affectionately called it, is far enough away from the main village that the feel of the country pervades everything, but close enough that you can quickly get there or other local towns for necessities. There are many restaurants in the area, but our favorite was Local. Check it out. My wife truly enjoyed exploring the surrounding towns and the numerous antique shops in and around the Hudson Valley. We want to return next year, if our schedule’s can accommodate. My wife’s winter was much more enjoyable and bearable this year because of our stay at the cottage. We had such a great experience that we have considered buying nearby! We would enthusiastically recommend “The Rhinebeck Cottage” to any and all for a relaxing and enjoyable city retreat."
