  • Beautiful old house for a family vacation with a small kid

"We spent a nice week at the Clermont house: The house was clean and warm. Three bedrooms and a nursery provided sufficient space for two couples, one adult, and a child. The house is old, but well kept and provides a modern kitchen, WIFI, and a large variety of movies and TV series. The garden behind the house was nice to play ball and we also loved to watch the horses on the adjacent farm. The next supermarket is about 20 minutes away, and major tourist attractions like the FDR estate or the walkway over the Hudson are about 45 minutes to drive. The house owner has compiled a nice list of things to do in the area. We also enjoyed the BBQ to go around the corner and the biplane ride at the Old Rhinebeck aerodrome. The communication with the house owner was very convenient, every thing worked out fine."

  • Perfect Camp-like Home

"We have stayed used VRBO for years both as travelers and owners. For the size and location it is hard to beat the comfort and price. Yes you will have to bring everything you need which only requires a trip to Shop-n-Save a few miles away on the way to Rhinebeck. The pool and spa were well maintained and awesome. The woodstove was wonderful. If you go there looking for a camp like retreat with a few rough edges you will be very pleased with your choice. It is secluded in the woods offering a sanctuary like privacy. We attended a 4 day event at Omega Institute (an easy 30 min drive). This Splendid Country Retreat was a perfect complement. We were 4 adult couples from all over the country. There is no question that we will be back again next year if at all possible. Scott -n- Lu"

  • Weekend Retreat Exceeded Our Expectations

"My family chose Hudson Valley as a new destination to explore for our Mom's milestone birthday. Radcliffe was a lucky find and by the description nd photos we were sold. We had an easy and pleasant experience booking with the owner. Our arrival greeting and house tour by owner Elizabeth was thoughtful and very helpful. We were given a thorough introduction to the homes beautiful and extensive amenities. The property is everything described in the listing and delivers even more. The photos are very accurate and cleanliness is obviously a high priority for the caretakers. The standards and amenities are top notch and of luxury hotel quality. Beautifully made beds with clean white linens, bathrooms with lots of plush towels and very well stocked for any basic needs one might have. Extremely comfortable seating throughout the house allows for many places to lounge. A fantastic laundry room is available if desired. The gourmet kitchen allowed us to prepare great meals with many people working and never getting in each other's way. A superb Viking range allowed us to cook an amazing brunch including pancakes on the griddle. A nice stock of basics for cooking and baking made staying for a long weekend easy to handle. Oils, vinegars, spices, condiments, etc were all on hand and organized and ready for use. The kitchen is well equipped with cooking gear and a very large selection of serving pieces including china and other unique pieces. The owner has a great eye for detail and a very organized style. Baskets and bins are everywhere with all the amenities. Special touches including fresh cut flowers in all rooms and bed-side brought the aroma of lilacs throughout the house. Throw blankets in every room would be perfect for a cool night. An extensive book library adorns the little study area with a computer for use. Magazines and coffee table books outfit each room. If one must stay connected WiFi is available with reception all over the property. The grounds are great and the views of the river and mountains are just gorgeous. The heated salt water pool with water falls is a relaxing treat. The wrap around porch is perfect to enjoy the view and relax while eating or rocking in a chair. The proximity to great sights is perfect, however it's easy to never leave the house. Our weekend of relaxing and entertaining included grilling by the pool, lounging in the great room and watching sunset from the porch. I highly recommend this property!"

  • SuperBowl Weekend....

"The rental manager was wonderful to work with, very prompt to answer any questions we had in advance to our stay. He left us a bottle of wine as a "welcome" gift! The house is very spacious so 5 adults were able to spread out. The living room is the real shining star of the house (including a wet bar with extra fridge....so convenient for those Super Bowl beverages!)."
