  • Unbelievable Wedding Weekend

"Our wedding was quite the best weekend of my life. That being said, it took an army of support to make our dreams come true. The CURRENT staff (Bob, Dave, and company) were wonderful. We had worked with a previous property manager for the house and our experience with her was a bit of a nightmare. Bob went above and beyond to rectify the issues that were a result of this person’s mistakes. Bob and Dave made every effort to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. For example, the clothes dryer was broken, and within an hour of calling Bob they had replaced the dryer with a new unit. Bob and Dave made themselves available to our guests 24 hours a day and popped in every now and then to check on us. Like ninjas, they would check the pool temperature, take out garbage, spot clean the grounds - all without us ever knowing. I firmly believe, with these folks in place, this venue will succeed in hosting many more beautiful weddings. A few important notes about the house; the water is well water. This means it is treated in a specific way and the water has a sulphuric smell. This is not abnormal for this type of system, but can be a shock if you are not expecting it. YOU will not come out of the shower smelling of sulphur, but the bathroom will. Get yourself some incense or scented candles. I promise you will want them. The house is gorgeous but RUSTIC. If you are looking for a ultra modern, white glove mansion with sleek amenities, this house is not for you. For us all of the charm outweighed any need for glossy accouterments. The windows are worn, the cobblestones a tad loose, the pavilion a little leaky (it also rained really HARD on our wedding day). We had an easy to please, easy going crowd so none of this mattered to us - if you are into the beauty of vintage, shabby chic, rustic country venues this is the place for you. You will need to bring in EVERYTHING for your wedding (again not abnormal). This may change as SOH becomes more popular but at the time of our wedding it was truly a DIY venue. They require you rent a toilet trailer, you will need to bring in catering, and ALL rentals, flowers, etc. You will probably want a golf cart to transport guests to and fro and there is no formal ‘parking’ or ‘valet’ - another reason for a golf cart. But above all else, every single person at SOH was kind, helpful, and supportive. Our wedding day was extraordinary and we felt like we were in great hands the entire time."

  • fourth of July weekend

"We were in Millbrook to visit my Mother who turned 100 this week. The home was perfect for our family during our visit. The location is minutes from Millbrook center and the home was immaculate and very cozy. I might add there was a spectacular light show every evening on the back porch. Who knew lightening bugs could be so entertaining? Thank you Marcia for being such an excellent host and easy to work with."

  • A casual but elegant retreat to re-charge

"My family rented the stone cottage in Kent Lakes for a month this summer. It was an opportunity for me to write from a more peaceful location and allow my family to escape the hustle of the City. While we wanted something in the country and low key, we didn't want to "rough it" in a more typical summer house kind of way. The stone cottage didn't disappoint as it is truly elegant and a restful retreat. The master suite could easily be featured in a style magazine. It was also amazingly convenient from a travel/commute perspective given the proximity to the Taconic State Parkway and the Southeast train station. It was very easy for my husband to get back into the City for work."

  • Absolutely Perfect!

"My husband and I were lucky enough to be able to sneak away for a few days for our 11th anniversary and this truly was our "Haven on the Hudson". Everything in the description is accurate and Chad was just truly wonderful!! He was always available to answer my questions and it was so nice to meet him the day we arrived. He even left us a nice surprise in the fridge for our anniversary! The house is just gorgeous and any view out of the MANY windows is breathtaking! The house is well stocked from the kitchen to the bedrooms and you need not bring anything except clothes and food. We spent the days fishing from the row boat or the dock, napping (It’s so peaceful I took 3 naps in one day) and when I didn’t feel like going fishing, I just curled up in the recliner with my Kindle in front of that gorgeous view. We were married in the town of Saugerties so we spent an afternoon visiting the church and Seamans park (which is beautiful in the fall with all of the mums) and having dinner at Emiliano’s restaurant (which is where we had our rehearsal dinner and the food was still great). We woke up early one morning to weird sounds and jumped up to see what it could be and it was a group of turkeys wandering around outside. I liked not knowing what I may see or run into. Don’t hesitate…..just book your dream house!! MANY, MANY thanks Chad for making this happen for us!!!"
