"Our seven night stay at Pat Nelson's cottage was absolutely fantastic. A perfect combination of beach and country are all on this seven acre paradise. Pat is the pefect host , and offers his kayaks, charcoal grills , and many other things to make your stay enjoyable.
I'd give TEN stars if possible."

"Our family enjoyed this quirky, rambling Shelter Island home. Comfortable outdoor space served as a focal point for family and extended-friend dinner gatherings, while the top-notch kitchen was stocked to the hilt with just about anything a serious cook might need. The house was quite spacious for six adults - two parents and our adult children, each accompanied by a guest. In addition, our Golden Retriever, Henry, found the large front porch and chasing of rabbits very much to his liking.
The house is located just a few minutes drive from the North Ferry; the location is peaceful and quiet. David was quite accommodating with the entire rental process and the home and its amenities were just as stated on the VRBO site.
This is our third visit to Shelter Island and it's a truly special place. We've enjoyed hiking in the gorgeous Mashomack Preserve, as well as the varied selection of wineries on the North Fork - we especially recommend Shinn Estate Vineyards and Anthony Nappa's The Winemaker Studio (think Anomaly Pinot Noir white wine!). The drive through the Hamptons out to Montauk is a half-day well spent. Bob's Fish Market on Shelter Island was a good source of fresh local seafood for home cooking and Noah's in Greenport served up some interesting and savory tapas. Vine Street Cafe, while quite expensive, was an extraordinary and memorable dinner. Hay Beach is a great little spot for relaxing and bocci ball. The star gazing from Rose Cottage on clear nights was awesome! Driving through the Forks, Sag Harbor and the Hamptons is a reminder that Long Island Forks region is stunningly beautiful."

"The Owners of the House could not have been nicer and easier to plan our trip. Communications was easy by all means via cell, email or USPS mail. My family has been getting together for an annual Family Get-Away for 25 years. The House is the best. The very large dining table allowed my entire family to sit around to talk, eat and share fellowship. The living room set up with the two couches, two sitting chairs and small round table allowed everyone to gather together in the same area but be able to sit in small groups and catch up with stories since our last gathering last year. The beds and bedrooms were comfortable and restful. The outdoor under cover deck was as perfect as perfect can be. To be able to enjoy the outdoors and to be protected from the direct sun was very important to all. However, we also enjoyed being able to sit on the lower outdoor deck which was protected by a large shade tree. The heated indoor swim pool was a treat that was the best. For us, our group arrived by boat. We did not have a car. The floating dock and tie off bulkhead with deep water was perfect for us. The house is in easy walking distance to the beach. Everyone was sad to leave on Sunday. For anyone considering Shelter Island, the peacefulness and house are the best.
Thank you, The Avedesian Family, Rhode Island & Maryland."

"My husband, young son and I spent a wonderful long weekend in this comfortable cottage after Thanksgiving. Cozy, clean and inviting, this cottage was the perfect home base from which to enjoy a more quiet time on the island. The owner was a pleasure to work with - a very easy process."
