"Our seven night stay at Pat Nelson's cottage was absolutely fantastic. A perfect combination of beach and country are all on this seven acre paradise. Pat is the pefect host , and offers his kayaks, charcoal grills , and many other things to make your stay enjoyable.
I'd give TEN stars if possible."

"Our family enjoyed this quirky, rambling Shelter Island home. Comfortable outdoor space served as a focal point for family and extended-friend dinner gatherings, while the top-notch kitchen was stocked to the hilt with just about anything a serious cook might need. The house was quite spacious for six adults - two parents and our adult children, each accompanied by a guest. In addition, our Golden Retriever, Henry, found the large front porch and chasing of rabbits very much to his liking.
The house is located just a few minutes drive from the North Ferry; the location is peaceful and quiet. David was quite accommodating with the entire rental process and the home and its amenities were just as stated on the VRBO site.
This is our third visit to Shelter Island and it's a truly special place. We've enjoyed hiking in the gorgeous Mashomack Preserve, as well as the varied selection of wineries on the North Fork - we especially recommend Shinn Estate Vineyards and Anthony Nappa's The Winemaker Studio (think Anomaly Pinot Noir white wine!). The drive through the Hamptons out to Montauk is a half-day well spent. Bob's Fish Market on Shelter Island was a good source of fresh local seafood for home cooking and Noah's in Greenport served up some interesting and savory tapas. Vine Street Cafe, while quite expensive, was an extraordinary and memorable dinner. Hay Beach is a great little spot for relaxing and bocci ball. The star gazing from Rose Cottage on clear nights was awesome! Driving through the Forks, Sag Harbor and the Hamptons is a reminder that Long Island Forks region is stunningly beautiful."

"My husband and I and our two little dogs spent a week at Susan's home and it was just what we needed. The house is fully stocked, the backyard is massive (and closed in for the pups to run wild) and the location is close to the shops and restaurants and in walking distance to beautiful sunset beach where we enjoyed champagne while we watched the sun go down on several evenings. Easy ferry to either Greenport or Sag Harbor for day trips. The owner was very accommodating prior to our stay and in fact when we had a hot water issue (likely due to the house not being used for a couple weeks) she had it fixed the very next day. We really had a lovely time!"

"Our stay on Fourth Street was perfect. Walking distance (or biking distance) to beaches, markets, harbor, restaurants, and LI RR & Jitney. What more could anyone need? A wonderfully quite street one block from the bay, and quick ferry over to Shelter Island, and short driving distance to any of over 40 wineries. The cottage was well supplied, and quaintly furnished. Highly recommended."
