"As the Fall arrives here in CO and winter is around the corner, we start to dream of summer and that has meant the Rose Cottage for the last 3 years. We so enjoy the location, the gardens, the beautiful decor. We feel so blessed to be able to return to such a comfortable home and know how responsive and kind the owners are, from attending to an internet snafu within minutes to having the best advise on what's happening in town and the wines to try. Walking to town, biking to the beach, and sitting in the shade to read, this is this perfect summer day. We're looking forward to summer 2016 already!"

"Just back from two glorious weeks. The house sits on a beautiful piece of property with a spectacular view. Perfect spot to drop your paddleboard or kayak and just spend the day on the Sound. There was no reason to leave. Everything we needed was there for us to have a beautiful vacation. The owners were super to work with. Thanks - until next year!"

"Our family enjoyed this quirky, rambling Shelter Island home. Comfortable outdoor space served as a focal point for family and extended-friend dinner gatherings, while the top-notch kitchen was stocked to the hilt with just about anything a serious cook might need. The house was quite spacious for six adults - two parents and our adult children, each accompanied by a guest. In addition, our Golden Retriever, Henry, found the large front porch and chasing of rabbits very much to his liking.
The house is located just a few minutes drive from the North Ferry; the location is peaceful and quiet. David was quite accommodating with the entire rental process and the home and its amenities were just as stated on the VRBO site.
This is our third visit to Shelter Island and it's a truly special place. We've enjoyed hiking in the gorgeous Mashomack Preserve, as well as the varied selection of wineries on the North Fork - we especially recommend Shinn Estate Vineyards and Anthony Nappa's The Winemaker Studio (think Anomaly Pinot Noir white wine!). The drive through the Hamptons out to Montauk is a half-day well spent. Bob's Fish Market on Shelter Island was a good source of fresh local seafood for home cooking and Noah's in Greenport served up some interesting and savory tapas. Vine Street Cafe, while quite expensive, was an extraordinary and memorable dinner. Hay Beach is a great little spot for relaxing and bocci ball. The star gazing from Rose Cottage on clear nights was awesome! Driving through the Forks, Sag Harbor and the Hamptons is a reminder that Long Island Forks region is stunningly beautiful."

"Great house in a perfect location. If you want a house with a pool, directly on the water here you are. Bring your boat, or use the kayak. You can paddle to Shell, Silver and Wades beach here no problem.
The house is very comfortable and cozy, beachy and quaint. One level, spread out and with the added advantage of a separated cottage that allows grandparents or the like a little privacy while the rest of the family stays in the main house. The pool looks over the water and is large and kept very clean.
The owner is lovely and there at a moment's notice if anything is needed.
Couldn't recommend the house more highly."
