  • Location, Location, Location !!

"We spent one week here in late June 2014, before the official start of the season. This house is located in the Culloden section of Montauk, on the bay side. It is a very charming neighborhood and in fact we met some nice people that lived down the street. Everyone was very friendly. This area is known for its Leisureama houses.(These were sold by Macy's in the 1960's)... You can look it up on the internet !! There is easy walking access….. about 50 yards to a private beach. The house is very "beachy" Nautical themed furnishings. The house is fully equipped down to the availability of beach chairs, umbrellas, bicycles. The kitchen has everything you might need..coffee pot, microwave, toaster oven, D/W…. The house is an upside down house. 2 bedrooms down stairs with a large common area and addtional sofa beds if needed. On the second level, there are two BR's, kitchen, common area, and there is a large deck with seating, propane BBQ…. owner supplied two extra tanks which were filled with propane. There is W/D in the lower level and an extra refrigerator. All the bedding appeared new…. sheets, comforters, etc. The beds are all comfortable….. no sagging mattresses. There is fast wireless internet and two flat screen LCD TV's ..one on each level… with cable. no problem… all easy to operate. The house is located very close to Gosman's…. restaurants, ice cream, fresh fish market….. awesome.( We BBQ'd three times… .some of the best fresh fish we ever had). Nearby is a very good wine store. The neighborhood feels very safe and is away from the young crowds that populate the ocean side…. e.g. Ditch Plains. Montauk is a small town, and we drove around ...to town, Montauk harbor, Montauk lighthouse…. everything is within a few miles drive. The only negative… is that the kitchen despite brand new appliances… is a bit dated…. flooring and countertops need attention. Downstairs the carpet is a bit tired. But this does not detract from its utility. A large family will have an awesome time here. BTW… there is a ceiling fan in every BR which will be helpful during hotter weather. Have a great time at this house. We would definitely rent it again. The owner was very responsive, knows the area intimately and we communicated easily with text messaging !!!"

  • Peace

"This place, at two hours drive from New York, reminds you that life can be sweet. The house is almost hidden in the forest, and sometimes you forget that there's the beach at 5mn ride on the bycicle, you just cross the road and you rest on the bank of the nice lake in front of the house... or you read a book lying on the couch in the living room, covered by the shadows of the trees. With my friends we really enjoyed our long week end we and made a nice barbecue in the garden..."

  • Stylish Hampton's retreat

"Perfectly located between East Hampton, Southampton and Sag Harbour. Beautifully maintained house, gardens and pool. Interior is beautiful. Owners were extremely helpful and were happy to help with anything. The Dockside restaurant in Sag Harbour was one of our favourites. Schiavoni's Market in Sag Harbour was also very good with a large choice of food. Mecox beach had fabulous surfing but would advise taking a picnic as there is limited food choice available. We would defiantly come back to the house and would recommend it highly to others!"
