  • Idyllic spot, great place to stay

"We have stayed here several times over the past few years. The house is in a beautiful, secluded, bucolic setting, tucked away on a private road. It is very close to East Hampton village but when you are there you feel a million miles away. The house is simple, clean and beautifully designed for easy summer living. It has a wrap around porch that is great for whiling away lazy summer afternoons. We were within an easy bike ride of the ocean beaches. The owners were lovely. This house is a great find and I would definitely recommend to friends and family."

  • Everything You Need, Right Here.

"My wife and I stayed here for a week, without guests, in July,2014, and we just had the most relaxing time, even while maintaining a lot of on the go activities, as we are not sit around and read type of people. It's hard to believe how isolated you are here, even though you are close to everywhere you want to be, like the beach, or Montauk, or Sag Harbor, or East Hampton, or Amagansett Square, which we really liked. I mean, you are not visible by neighbors anywhere on this property, THAT'S how private it is. The house is very charming, with so much attention to detail from corner to corner. It's obvious a lot of love went into this house for many years. All of the bedrooms are really nicely done. After a week there, you feel like it's your own place, which is good because you then want to take extra good care of it. We certainly didn't want to leave when our time was up. There's a lot of fun to be had in the Hamptons, I'll say that. We loved our long bike ride out to Lazy Point, it's so beautiful out there you have to check that out. Also, we indulged in dinner at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, Navy Beach, Nick and Toni's, and a concert at The Montauk Surf Lodge. Also, a fun excursion was wine tasting at Wolffer's. And antique shopping in East Hampton. There's just so much to do there! We would definitely recommend this property to anyone. We are active people, and only scratched the surface of things to do in a week's time. If you are a more relaxed, sedate type, then perfect. This is the place for you as well. The owners, Wendy and Peter, take great pride in this wonderful little cottage, and they really care about you enjoying yourself. That was excellent, that they were available anytime you might have needed them. Very nice people. We were lucky to have one of the great summer weeks of all time, with sunshine and temps in the 70's. It felt like a summer from another era, it felt an like old time Hampton's summer, if that makes any sense... It was a vacation I'll never forget."

  • Absolutely AMAZING property and fantastic owners - best weekend on Shelter Island!

"I don't normally write reviews, but the house is absolutely gorgeous and the owners are one of the nicest and most accommodating people you will ever meet. They have made our stay so easy and pleasant! The pictures don't do the property justice - the front porch is fantastic for breakfast or afternoon cocktails; the back yard is perfect for everything from yoga to dinner parties. The landscaping is beautiful! The house itself has everything you need and then some. The kitchen was stocked with everything you can possibly think of and then some, same goes for bathrooms, the bedrooms are huge and the decor is impeccable. There are several bikes also, which make the ride to the nearby wades beach a pleasure. The owners were responsive, accommodating and always positive - thank you again, we had a great time!"

  • Perfect Beach Cottage

"Our young family had a wonderful weekend stay at this Ditch Plains Beach cottage. Everything we needed was there. The owner couldn't have been more a more gracious host. And she was more than willing to answer any questions prior to the rental. The playhouse in the yard for the kids was TERRIFIC. And we loved sitting by the fire in the yard at night. Description of the cottage was spot-on and the photos hardly do it justice. We would totally rent this home again without hesitation."
