  • Great place for families or small groups

"4 of us - 3 adults and one 5 year old kid - had a fabulous week here. The house is spacious, very clean and well kept. The kitchen has everything you'd ever need for cooking, baking and entertaining and the outside grill is great. Plenty of beach equipment too. The small private beach down the lane is a little small as the sand is being eroded, but the public beach is so close and it's large and mostly sandy, plus has climbing frame, picnic areas, showers, toilets and little concessions hut. If you or your kids are into fishing you can head to the entrance to the marina inlet just there and the kids are almost certain to catch something (which is the main thing). Once you get the Riverhead parking pass ($15) from the beach you can also head over to Iron Pier Beach on the Sound which is possibly even nicer. The outside shower at the house is great when you come back all sandy. BTW - Other fishing can be had over at Breakwater Beach, but make sure you park in the state parking and walk to the pier / down to the inlet to avoid tickets. (Riverhead parking pass doesn't cover this location.) Waldbaums is just under 4 miles away in Mattituck and there are plenty of other local stores and restaurants to keep you fed and watered. The wineries are super close so you could cycle if you didn't want to drive. The owners are really friendly and helpful, but leave you to yourselves if that's what you prefer. The area is really great and everyone so friendly. If the little area outside the back door with the BBQ and table joined up with the yard, which is on the side of the house, I wouldn't be able to fault this place."

  • Love, love, love Love Lane Getaway

"My husband and I just came home from a three night weekend with our daughter, son, daughter-in-law and 18 month old granddaughter. We had owned a house on the water in Southold when the kids were little and always enjoyed the area. The interior of the house is even prettier than pictured. The rooms and bathrooms were so CLEAN. They literally were sparkling. This listing doesn't show pictures of the bathrooms so I was a little worried. The bathrooms far exceeded our hopes. My daughter used the ground floor twin bedded room and the first floor bathroom. The tub in that room was perfect for the baby and we loved the hand held shower to wash her hair. Had it been warmer we all would have used the outdoor shower on the porch. The master bedroom was huge and had a TV, large walk in closet and a very large master bath. The towels and linens were good quality. My son and daughter-in-law used the double bedded room and put the baby's pack-n-play in the queen bedded room because it had shades on the windows. They had their own large bathroom right next to both of those rooms. All the rooms and bathrooms were so clean that I felt comfortable in bare feet all weekend. We loved the large kitchen/dining room and although we didn't really cook (besides breakfast), it was a great gathering space to eat our take-out food. Love Lane was a perfect place to purchase sandwiches and meals. It's difficult to eat in a restaurant with an active 18 month old so we found food trucks and other outdoor venues for our meals and our granddaughter had the freedom to play on the grass. Love Lane is walkable from the house. We also found a playground in Mattituck and on the beach in Orient State Park. It was pumpkin picking time and we found plenty to keep us occupied. My daughter had to leave for work early on Monday morning and she took the jitney into the city and was there in about 2 hours. As I said....We all LOVED it!"

  • Awesome spot!

"Thanks so much for the awesome weekend! The house is tucked away and on a great little plot of land with a spectacular view - the lawn was so lush too! The breeze from the water was great and the kitchen was nice and updated. No complaints here! We would love to come back someday :-)"

  • Amazing Beachfront Property

"Have stayed at this property 2 years in row (before Memorial Day weekend). On both occasions have traveled with a large group. Everyone who visits this home loves it! Has a great open layout, variety of bedrooms/sleeping space, and best of all, the view/beach/deck and levels to the home! The rental process has been seamless on both occasions, we will for sure be going back to this house!"
