Great hosts and townhome.
"Our experience at this cute little townhome was very nice. There were 4 of us and we all stayed very comfortably. This remodeled property was clean and very well-kept. We had absolutely no complaints about the townhome, with exception of a running toilet that we pointed out at the end of our stay, which certainly was no big deal. Tony immediately apologized and was going to have it taken care of ASAP. We didn't do much cooking (who spends time cooking when you are in New York?), but the kitchen had the things you need, which was all we cared about. Tony and Christine were awesome hosts and very responsive both before, during and after our arrival.
There is a sweet small grocery store literally within a block, which was quite handy, and we did buy a few things we needed at the little "department" type store just across from the grocer.
We flew into LaGuardia and took Uber (not a taxi). The travel time was about 20 minutes and cost us about $28 total. Not too shabby!! This was our first experience with the Uber app. If you have not used it, download the app before you get there. It's private people driving you around in lieu of high taxi fares. We used them 3 times while we were there to go to and from the airport, and one evening when we were too exhausted to do the subway to get home after a night a eating and drinking downtown.
I do, however, have to point out that the neighborhood was a bit challenging for our tastes. We were safe and never felt threatened nor pan-handled, but we did have to walk to subways and buses through some very sketchy "activities" at times. The street the property is on was quiet for the most part, but Lexington Avenue had it's "moments." I would have to rate the neighborhood low.
All in all, for the price, don't expect Manhattan...but this property was worth the stay. We experienced New York and all walks of life during our week there... and that was okay with us. Afterall, it's those interesting and colorful experiences that you remember most... right? We had plenty of fun and enjoyed our time. Thank you so much Tony & Christine."

"Three of us stayed in this apartment for six nights and would highly recommend it -- very clean, comfortable and in an awesome neighborhood filled with lots of great restaurants and shops. A subway stop is just a few blocks away, and it was easy to get a cab when we needed one (would recommend downloading the app Uber Cab for instant service). We liked that the living room in the apartment easily becomes a second bedroom when you close the french doors, that both rooms had closets and that the bathroom had shelves, a medicine cabinet and a full tub with shower. We thought both the futon in the bedroom and the sofabed were comfortable and we all slept quite well -- it's a surprisingly quiet street for New York. There's a patio outside that provides a little extra space in good weather. The owner was very good about keeping in touch and answering all our questions. He even provided two pages' worth of recommendations for great restaurants, a grocery store and pharmacy that are nearby.
It's a perfect space for three people; four might feel crowded, especially with one bathroom. Note it's not a hotel, so you may have to buy extra toilet paper if you stay more than a few nights. Also, we were provided with three towels, so bring more if you think you might need them. We hope to be back soon!"

"This apartment is a great option for those who want to spend time in Lower Manhattan or Brooklyn. It is in the heart of the Lower East Side near the Wlliamsburg Bridge, with easy access to East Village, Chinatown, Little italy, Soho, etc etc. Twice we walked across the city to the West Village in under 30 minutes, casual strolling, passing through fascinating areas on the way. Very close to 2 subway lines also.
The apartment, as advertised, is large and clean and well furnished. Two TVs, excellent mattress, a hard-wired computer and 2 different WiFi networks. Clean is a big issue, as places in NYC are not always up to the standards of home, but this place is really clean! Awesome view to the west from the 18th floor - maybe all the way to Jersey?
As noted by others, the immediate surroundings are a bit grim - parking lots and other high-rise buildings, but at no time did we feel even remotely unsafe. It's a very user friendly area.
Ana, the landlady, is extremely helpful and co-operative. There was a little complexity surrounding our arrival time and she worked with us so we got the keys well in advance. One could not ask for a more accommodating owner; she made it all very easy. Even left us with a welcome basket of wine, beer and sundry junk foods.
The only qualification is that the cleaning fee ($100) is a bit high when compared to comparable listings in VRBO.
Overall, strongly recommend to anyone who wants to stay in the area."
