  • Perfect Choice!

"I rented this apartment for my parents and four of their grandsons, this was THE PERFECT CHOICE! They say everything was nice, clean and very well maintained, they had everything they expected and more! Very spacious and with a super location! The owners were really nice, always helped and answered our questions, always! I'd totally recommend this property, never going into a hotel again"

  • Perfect Home Base to See NYC

"This second floor, NYC apartment is ideally located for exploring all that the city has to offer. The owners were excellently attentive and easy to communicate with during our one week stay this August. We arrived by train at Penn Station and took a $7 cab ride to the apartment. The apartment is homey, quirky and well equipped. Everything was clean and ready for our use. It was the perfect home base for a short walk to the Alvin Ailey dance theater. While my daughter spent her days in dance classes, I found a New York City I did not now existed. The apartment is in walking distance of Central Park and the cruise ship terminals, as well as Times Square and all the restaurants in Hells Kitchen. In the morning you will hear the clopping of horses going by the window and wonder if you have traveled back in time. No worries, it is the sound of the horse and buggies heading from up the street into the park area to start their tours. I am a public transportation novice, so when the owner gave me directions to the subway I really did not think I would try it. Just a few short blocks from the apartment is the most wonderful portal to a whole new world - the subway. For less than $5 I rode the subway (round trip) all they way to Battery Park and walked along the Hudson River. Beautiful! There I found parks and benches and interesting sites. It was a lovely day exploring the area of the Jewish Heritage Museum, the Irish Hunger Monument, the 9/11 Memorial and more. The Statue of Liberty in the background is accessed from here by tour boat. Do not hesitate to stay in this apartment. The musical décor alone is worth the time spent. There is a great big TV if you care to just hang out. And definitely order Chinese take-out, delivered to your door from Mee's Noodles! The owners had some great suggestions and this was the best!!"

  • Great location

"The location of this Apartment is great. A short walk one direction to Time Square and Hell Kitchen the other direction. A subway station is very close which we used a lot. We used the free Subway app. everyday to help decide how we were getting around to the farther destinations. Robert the owner is wonderful. He provides a nice flower arrangement and great espresso machine. There are 3 bedrooms with nice beds in each (one has 2 beds), so we had plenty of room for sleeping. Just as the hotel rooms are small in NY, so are the apartments. Things to be aware of as you make your choice: 1. The rental company made me feel as if this was a potential fraud. The VRBO listing shows credit cards are acceptable; however the rental company makes it very clear they are not accepted. The rental is a series of events which feels like you are being piece milled in an unfriendly way. For example, we agreed on a price and dates. When we signed the rental agreement, so the fine print began. Payment is by wire, etc and must be received in 24 hours or you lose the hold on the property. Really? Luckily we were given a little more time due to a weekend and me trying to do more research on whether this was legit or not. There is a management fee which a credit card can be used and not sure why this payment has to be separate and it states you pay it and don't get it refunded if something else changes. For future renters, I hope credit card is an option since that works so easily for all other VRBO rentals. 1a. You actually have to request your damage deposit to be returned. Really again? What a way to treat your customers. 2. The unit is on the 3rd floor, and there is no elevator. The entry, halls and stairs haven't been updated in probably 30+ years and they are very narrow. The stairs are steep, so get ready for a hike. Nonetheless, if you can't walk and do stairs, then you shouldn't visit NY, since that is all we did while there. 3. The picture makes the apt looks very new and updated. It is still nice and works, but the Apartment is dated just like a number of the hotels. I am just trying to set expectations since I was a little shocked with all the above since this was my first experience like this when using VRBO."
