  • Excellent choice, excellent location!

"We spent 7 nights in this apartment and were so pleased with our choice of accommodations! The bedding and linens are lovely and the bed was so comfortable that we enjoyed excellent sleep. The apartment was very quiet, in fact, no noise to speak of, from either the outside or other tenants. The location is fantastic! We walked everywhere with ease: Empire State Building, Times Squares, Central Park, Broadway, the USS Intrepid, Broadway and the High Line. This is conveniently located to major subway stations such as Penn Station, and Grand Central, as well as Herald Square which we used most frequently. Miss K's Italian Eatery is very convenient for essentials like snacks and bottled water when you don't want to carry them very far. We found Wine 30 nearby and enjoyed a fabulous meal experience. It is certainly worth going to. We would say the same about Ben & Jack's Steakhouse, which was a great meal and reasonably priced. Both Wine 30 and Ben & Jacks are within a few minutes walking distance. The apartment kitchen is small but well appointed. The bathroom was clean and lovely and had perfect water pressure. The owners have put so much thought into what a guest would need (Thank you!). I would say if mobility is an issue the stairs might cause difficulty. Luckily my husband was able to manage the suitcases without issue. We really appreciated the fact that the apartment was located out of the 'hustle and bustle' of Times Square, returning each evening to a quiet neighbourhood. We found the area to be safe and had no issues with returning back to the apartment late at night. The photos well represent the space and furnishings."

  • No surprises is a very good thing

"I am an ex-NYer who came back for business and pleasure for 3 weeks last month. I usually stay with friends but not for a period this long. I saw this unit online and did my first HomeExchange rental. I was extremely pleased with following: 1) owner and his orientation to apartment and building services and his guidebook- very hands on and helpful, even with my bags both coming and going also; 2) unit- it looks exactly as you see it on the listing- very light, bright; 3) Location is perfect in mid-town where I needed to be- 30 min walk to theatre district and Grand central subways are 5 minutes away; 4) cleanliness-I am vary wary of bugs given my prior NY history. Not 1 bug did I see in the unit or building!!; 5) internet worked like a charm; 6) large closet with lots of hangers; 7) it's on a street, not avenue so relatively quiet; 8) People in the building that I met were nice and they even had a December holiday party in the lobby for the residents and staff- very well attended (this did not happen in building when I lived in NY). FedEx, Dagostinos, Shake Shack are a stone's throw away and owner told me there's a vegan bakery at block's end. Only downsides- everything is white so as a red wine drinker I had to be very cautious. Even coffee grounds will stain a counter if you don't wipe them right away. Teeny kitchenette- not really practical for making a meal, but simple stuff (oatmeal, toasting bagel, reheating takeout, making coffee, etc.) works fine and for a small fridge you can fit a lot in. I suggest owner get some place mats and coasters given the "white" situation and wash cloths for bathroom would be nice addition too. Would definitely rent from him again and recommend to others. Additional note: if you try to make a pickup reservation with SuperShuttle online the address shows up as a hotel and SS charges a surcharge for hotel pickups, so you need to make your reservation by phone to save the $20+. The doorman did tell me that it used to be a Hilton many moons ago."

  • Fabulous Find!

"Gerri’s apartment is truly a little home away from home. My friend and I spent 9 wonderful days in this fabulously comfortable and well equipped apartment and we could not possibly have asked for more. What you see in the photographs is exactly what you get. The doormen wished us a happy day when we left in the mornings and greeted us with a smile when we returned home. New York is best seen on foot so we walked just about everywhere, however, subways and bus stops were very easily accessible. For the more adventurous, New York’s rent a bicycle program is an option and there is a bicycle pick-up drop-off located on 2nd Avenue just around the corner. Also on the corner is the very fabulous Fairways Market which made having meals at home so very convenient. It is stocked with a wonderful selection of fresh fruits, vegetables, ready to go meals, gourmet cheeses and cold cuts not to mention all the other necessary items one might need. There are many restaurants in the area so the choices are unlimited. Gerri and her assistant Danuta could not have been more accommodating with early check-in and late check-out times and the day before we left, we received a very nice email from Gerri thanking us for our stay! If I make another trip to New York, this is most definitely where I will stay!"

  • Little Oasis

"This apartment was exactly as listed, plus added touches that we did not expect. Clean towels and toiletries in the bathroom, laundry soap to use in the washer were provided. Iris was very accomodating and explained everything clearly. She also answered all our questions patiently and showed us all around. We would definitely stay here for our next trip to NYC, and highly recommend it. We also felt very safe in the neighbourhood. Super clean!!!"
