  • Father of the Groom

"We stayed in Maria's beautiful apartment with my son and his family for a family wedding. The memorable weekend started with a gracious greeting and tour -- Maria is a delightful host and her apartment is spacious and comfortable (exactly as it shows in the VRBO pictures). The location was perfect -- a ten minute walk to the NOLITA area restaurant where the wedding was held; and minutes to the subway, grocery store, park, neighborhood stores and cafes -- on a tree-lined street with a nice "neighborhood" feeling where we all felt comfortable and safe. We also found on-street parking right in front of the apt which was an unexpected surprise. We'd definitely like to stay there again for our next NYC adventure."

  • Nice stay in Harlem B/C line close by

"My wife and I stayed here for three days in June. Neighborhood was nice and quite two blocks to the B/C subway line convenient stores located within a block. Dana is GREAT host and very helpful! Since our plane wasn't leaving till later in the evening and no one else was staying that day we were able to keep our luggage in the room. A lot of the buildings charm is still there with all the modern conveniences. Nice stay for a couple looking to get away for a few days"

  • Great location.

"The property was prettly well exactly as shown in the photos, for which I was relieved as I had tried a different rental-by-owner company and had inadvertantly responded to a fraudulent ad. This VRBO rental is as listed, and is not listed as 5-Star. The important issues (to me) were met: clean bathroom and towels; clean dishes; clean fridge; and clean bedding - location, location... It has a toaster; coffee pot, and kettle for your convenience. We stayed two weeks. The area is a great location if you want to be within walking distance to a LOT of sites. (Walking-distance is relative - this is a fourth floor walk up - and you Can get to a lot of places if you are healthy and without mobility issues.) It is close to several subway lines. The area (like many places in NYC, I'm sure) is Loud. One of its monikers is "The City That Never Sleeps" - and for a reason. Sirens blare; people party; horns honk; trucks thunk on the metal plates temporarly placed on the streets - but this is New York. The owner answered my inquiries/e-mails/concerns in a very prompt manner. The price was very reasonable, considering the area hotels are a lot more expensive. The pick up and drop off of keys was quite easy ... My refundable deposit was returned very promptly upon my return home. Minor downsides to the apartment are that the computer is a little slow, and the door knob stuck a couple times. (A simple quick turn or two of the knob would pull the plunger out). Having a full-sized broom or mop would have been nice to access (not that I want to clean on vacation), but when staying that long - dust and strands of hair tend to build up on the floor. I echo earlier posters in that after walking all day, a walk-up is tiring - but with a kitchenette in the apartment, we bought groceries at the Food Emporium about 3 blocks away, and ate in sometimes - eliminating extra walks up and down stairs which also ended up saving us money. Or, we could take home leftovers as restaurant meals are often in large portions. The Celtic bar right next door has good food, fast kitchen service, reasonable prices, and is about as handy as you can get. I personally would recommend going off the beaten track - away from the Tourist destination most would head to - and take a walk around the residences in the neighbourhood - you may find a hidden gem, or get to say 'Hi' to a local. You might find a nice non-franchised chain restaurant to eat a meal or two at. Happy Travels!!!"

  • Perfect vacation

"My friends and I stayed here last week and loved it. There was 5 of us and we were very comfortable. The location worked out great. We felt very safe and close to all transportation. Tonya stopped by to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. We couldn't have picked a more perfect place and would definitely stay here again. Thanks Tonya!"
