Recent Manhattan reviews
"My family, two adults and two teenagers, recently lived in Manhattan and we rented this loft whilst returning on holiday/work in NYC for two weeks in July 2014. The loft is unusually quiet for NYC and uninterrupted sleep was bliss, Manhattan is virtually littered with 24/7 Fire Stations, roof top bars etc but none within earshot here. The interior A/C is new and quiet too. The dual aspect and additional sky lights apartment is furnished with vintage (expensive) designer furniture and is EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN. All mod cons worked extremely, the kitchen is very well equipped and bedding is 5 star too. The general state of the building is a bit run down and the stairs (no lift) would be a consideration if you are very unfit or injured, but once inside the apartment you are in a gorgeous oasis. As convenient locations go, this is certainly one of the better ones in Manhattan, naturally Broadway has a pretty mixed audience at street level, but you never feel unsafe whatever the time. You can easily walk to most downtown areas and its many great restaurants. WholeFoods and the famous Farmers Market is less than 5 minutes walk away as is the Union Square Subway (Express Stop and two lines). We had a fabulous time and I would seriously recommend it to anyone who wants a luxurious, spacious and HASSLE FREE apartment stay in NYC. The Owner is really great too!"Guest: Lotta S. "There were five of us--my parents, my sister and brother-in-law, and myself (all over 30)--traveling to the city at the end of August to celebrate my father's 65th birthday. He grew up on the UWS and Jamie's townhouse was ideal, both in terms of location and amenities. The "oldens" had their own private suite downstairs while the "kids" commandeered the main floor, one flight up from street level. There was plenty of space for our group and we all enjoyed our morning conversations in the garden, complemented by the incredibly mild summer temperatures. The extensive library, CD player, and beautiful floor-to-ceiling atrium window just added to the overall charm and comfort of the apartment. We'll definitely stay with Jamie again during our next trip to NYC!"Guest: Leslie G. Date of Stay: August 2014 Review Submitted: September 7, 2014View listing
"As I sit in this lovely apt. on our last morning here, enjoying a cup of tea, I just had to write to say how much we enjoyed our stay. I’d say the main attraction of this apt is location. Right off of 5th Ave., 3 blocks from the Empire State Bldg Observatory Entrance, and 2 subway stops from Times Square, this apt is ideally situated for exploring the city. I counted 3 main subway stations within walking distance of the apt! The apt is on a direct line to the 911 Memorial (R Train), to Times Square (R Train), Lincoln Center (no. 1 train) and to Bloomingdales (No 6 train). There are lots of great restaurants within walking distance. Take a right out of the bldg and walk to the end of the block for a great convenience store/deli, where I purchased our breakfast each morning to bring back to the apt. Delicious bagel sandwiches! S'Mac, on 33rd and 3rd is also an easy walk from the apt and offers wonderful dishes at a great price! There is also a Bread and Butter on 5th Ave and 31st that literally offers anything you could want to eat, from Korean food, Japanese food, Italian, to NYC deli. They offer a great hot buffet that is very reasonable. The owner was very responsive to any requests I had and was a true delight to work with. He provided a detailed account of the neighborhood and the location of all amnenities one might need, including laundry, gym, and grocery stores, as well as restaurant recommendations. The apt itself is very comfortable and provides everything one might need during their stay. Tom has thoughtfully provided umbrellas in the closet, tea and coffee in the cupboard (along with many other condiments and toiletries) and the bed is one of the most comfortable that I have ever slept in. There is a full bathroom, including a tub. Those who are in the city for business will appreciate the large desk and desk lamp along with free wifi! The a/c worked wonderfully and was much appreciated during the muggy summer days. I can’t think of a single thing lacking in this apt. It was just my son and I on this trip, but there is a blow up mattress, so I’d think a family of 3 would also be quite comfortable here. The only caveat I would offer is that it is a 4th floor walk up, which might be challenging to the elderly or those with very young children, but for us, it was a welcome way to work off the delightful food we enjoyed in the city. Thanks again Tom for a wonderful stay."Guest: Pamela M. Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: August 3, 2014View listing
