"This review is by Gretchen, Bruce, Kevin & Denise, travelers from Los Gatos, CA. We’ve been to Manhattan countless times over the years and wanted to spend more time and stay in a neighborhood instead of midtown. Greenwich Village beckoned us and we explored possibilities. The apartment on 8th street kept coming to the top of the stack so we reached out to Christine. We arranged our 3 week stay and let the remaining pieces of our travels fall into place. What fun it was staying in the west village - walking distance or a metro hop to every place we wanted to visit while in Manhattan. We loved the wine shop down the street, OTTO’s a block away, and Babbo nearby. We found the closest Trader Joe’s near Union Square. Washington Park was our first stop the afternoon we arrived. There are so many parks to explore - we visited one each day. Eataly was a destination for us both for shopping and a dinner/cooking demonstration. The laundry two doors down was a good fluff and fold experience.
Now - about our apartment. We signed our agreement confirming our stay in August 2014. Arriving by cab from the train station on a Sunday in May, we were instantly “at home.” The living area was welcoming and full of light. As we explored the space we discovered all the amenities we read about online and many more. We loved the book that contained lots of shopping and dining and “how to use the television” - and "who to call" if you cannot figure something out. We made a couple of calls to Christine during our stay and she was very helpful. We felt right at home. There was a heat wave while we were in town and the AC kept us cool and comfortable. We had breakfast in every day - enjoyed having cloth napkins and placemats- nice amenities. Several times we cooked dinner - recommend the fresh fish, poultry, sausages, fruit and veggies from Agata & Valentina on University Place. If you are getting pasta, go to Eataly and have a gelato while you visit. The kitchen is set up well for food prep and there are lots of cutting boards and tools. If you eat in - you will use the dishwasher a lot - it is small but does a good job. Each of us brought our laptops and did some work in the “office” while we were visiting. It was great having a printer. Since we had so many wifi devices, the wifi got a little slow. We loved the spacious great rooms and were very comfortable with our bed and bathrooms. Prepare for a comfortable stay in a lovely, clean home. ;>"

"The two outstanding features of this apartment are its size and location. The living and dining areas are huge by Manhattan standards and the high ceilings and tall windows add to the light and airy feel. It is a very short walk (less than 5 minutes) to the nearest subway and very close to the Brooklyn Bridge so all the major tourist spots can be easily reached. We found that we got very good value out of the weekly pass."

"I got a little worried when reading some of the previous reviews but we had no problems. The caretaker was readily available for the few questions I had. The apartment was perfect. Large by NY standards. Updated bath and kitchen. Very clean. Quiet for being in the city. It is right on Mulberry St. which is the tourist street of Little Italy. Great restaurants within walking distance but avoid the tourist ones right outside the apt. View of the Empire State Building and Freedom Tower. This will be our place when we come to NY."

"This lovely townhouse is located on a quiet, tree lined street easily walkable to Union Square, Washington Square Park, and numerous subway stations. The apartment features plenty of day light, high ceilings, wood floors, and very comfortable furnishings - towels and bedding are top notch. Everything was very clean upon arrival, including a very handy kitchen. The neighborhood felt safe and friendly. We discovered some wonderful restaurants on the block that we will be visiting again when we return. Working with HGS has been a pleasure. Nancy in booking, and Andy in guest services, are responsive and gracious. We highly recommend this townhouse and are looking forward to returning soon."
