  • THIS IS WHAT NYC IS ALL ABOUT!

"FANTASTIC LOCATION!!! The unit exceeded our expectations providing a fully equip kitchen, tennis courts, basketball and Bocche courts, There are quite a few children's playgrounds, a great lawn with huge beautiful fountain. Just a very comfortable place for our party of six to dine in and the sleeping arrangements for a party of 6 were great. In comparison to a hotel stay, it was also more cost effective. I would absolutely recommend this apartment for families, corporate functions, friends and the alike."

  • It really is gorgeous

"Pros: Great building, great apartment, tastefully decorated, friendly and accommodating hostess, safe and interesting neighborhood with easy access to transport, Roof Deck, fairly priced. Cons: Bedrooms are small, master bed is really high and quite soft. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Those "cons" are nothing compared to how great the experience was."

  • What a find!!!!

"Wow, I never thought it would be as good as the pictures but it was, even better. So very clean, beautiful, comfortable and accommodating. This was my first VRBO experience and it proved to be a great one. We took my husbands two teenaged girls to NYC for four days. I was looking for two bathrooms and some space for all of us. I also wanted a safe comfortable area. It was all there. From the drug store a few feet away to the convenience of the subway and the actual neighborhood itself, everything was great. There are wonderful restaurants and fun bars all within walking distance and quick ride on the subway gets you to Time square and other areas easily. My husband really wanted to eat in the famous Katz deli (When Harry met Sally). It is a five minute walk away. Avion, the owner was a pleasure to deal with at all times and I received my deposit within 5 days of my return. I will definitely check availability here the next visit if traveling with 4 people."

  • Wonderful apartment.

"7 days in this wonderful appartment with our 3 children (23, 20 and 16). It was just perfect. Location is great (Subway, shops, restaurants). Apartment is clean, spacious, patio is very nice. The place in Greenwich Village is quite and so charming to have walks. We really had a great week. Everything worked so well and Jerry was just perfect! I would highly recommend this property."

Manhattan Travel Tips

Known as the cultural and economic hub of the United States, Manhattan is one of the five boroughs that make up New York City. Even though it’s the smallest of the five, it’s personality and "never sleep" attitude has made it one of the most iconic and cosmopolitan locales on earth.

Manhattan is full of history, culture, excitement and thrilling experiences. It’s the home of famous landmarks and economic staples. From the United Nations to the Chrysler Building, Wall Street, the New York Stock Exchange and the glittering lights of Broadway, there is more than enough to satisfy every traveler who visits the island no matter what their interests are.

Whether you hail a taxi, take to sidewalk or hop on the city's famous subway, days can be filled with perusing through different shops, dining at the finest restaurants and seeing some of the best theater in the country.

Areas of Manhattan to Explore

Broadway: This neon-tinged boulevard is best known for its portion that houses block after block of venues in the theater district. It’s the oldest north-south thoroughfare in New York City. The theater district, also known as the Great White Way, is home to several Broadway theater that produce large-scale musicals and plays that attract theater goers from all around the world. The bar is set very high in Manhattan when it comes to the stage, so even if you venture to an off-Broadway production, no doubt you will be impressed.

Central Park: When you think of Manhattan, chances are images of Central Park come to mind. This massive green space has been at the heart of the Big Apple since the mid-19th century. In 1962, Central Park was designated a National Historic Landmark. It’s the perfect place to experience nature and get some fresh air away from the skyscrapers. You can wander through here on an afternoon stroll, enjoy a picnic, take a carriage ride or play a pick-up game of baseball. Children will enjoy a ride on the carousel or playing at one of the 21 playgrounds in Central Park.

Rockefeller Center: In the winter, Rockefeller Center features the country’s most famous Christmas tree under which people can enjoy ice skating around the rink or sip hot chocolate. It’s also the home of Radio City Musical Hall and the popular Rockettes, who perform a Christmas spectacular as well as other shows year-round.

Greenwich Village: For all things offbeat, there is no better spot in Manhattan than Greenwich Village. Once home to beatniks and hippies in the 1960s, this neighborhood hasn't lost its alternative edge over the years. Pop into an Irish pub, live music venue or dive bar, grab a slice of authentic New York pizza or enjoy one of the best collections of ethnic cuisine in the country.{I added this to include more of the island geographically}

Times Square: Also in Midtown you’ll find Times Square, a major commercial intersection at Broadway and 7th Avenue stretching from West 42nd to West 47th streets. Known as the “Crossroads of the World,’ Times Square is situated near the theater district and has some of the busiest pedestrian traffic in the country. If you’re in the city on New Year’s Eve, there’s no more famous place to watch the ball drop than Times Square itself.

Famous Landmarks to See in Manhattan

Empire State Building: Standing 102 stories tall in Midtown, the Empire State Building is hard to miss, and has become one of the cultural symbols of New York as well as the United States. It’s considered a structural marvel designed in the Art Deco style and is one of the seven wonders of the modern world, according to the American Society of Civil Engineers. Visitors can take in panoramic views of Manhattan from the 86th or the 102nd floor observation decks. The breathtaking urban vistas here are considered to be very romantic and created the setting for many famous love scenes in movies like "An Affair to Remember" and "Sleepless in Seattle."

Statue of Liberty: The ultimate symbol of freedom and America, no trip to Manhattan is complete without a visit to the State of Liberty. It was designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi and given to the United States as a gift from France. Lady Liberty captured the spirit of American progress, as she welcomed immigrants and visitors to the United States through Ellis Island during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Visitors enter through the statue’s base and can climb the stairs to the crown to take in the views of the Manhattan skyline.

Central Park Zoo: For an activity the whole family can love, visit the Central Park Zoo. This wild attraction is the perfect place to witness some of your favorite creatures up close and personal. The main exhibit areas range from polar to temperate to tropic. You can experience a rainforest with fruit bats and anteaters, the penguin house, the polar bear pool and an ant colony. There’s also a children’s zoo for younger kids to enjoy.
