  • Cozy cottage, beautiful grounds

"I stayed here with my husband, our one year old son and my parents while we were in town for a wedding. It was the perfect size for us. The kitchen was very well stocked - more so than any other place I have stayed like this. The movie and book collection was impressive, too! The rooms were all very comfortable and clean. Since it was fall and rainy outside, we did encounter a few spidery friends in the basement, but that was to be expected. The back yard is lovely and had a ton of room for my son to run around. We saw a few deer there in the morning and if you walk around the wilder area in the back of the yard you'll see evidence that deer are plentiful here. Just make sure to do a tick check when you're back in the house! It was nice to feel like you were "in the country" without being more than a short drive away from downtown Ithaca. If we were ever in the area again we would definitely stay here."

  • Peaceful retreat

"My family and I have vacationed at this amazing peaceful retreat many times over the past few years. We love the fact that it is close to our home so our adult/teenaged children can visit. The camp has a wonderful view of the lake from the extra large new screen porch. Plenty of lake frontage to play games! It is a quiet little lake and my husband and children love the fishing. Don't forget to bring your kayaks and water toys! So peaceful. The home offers many luxurious updates including a new kitchen and charming adirondack decor in the living room. All the comforts of home are offered. We look forward to our next trip!"

  • Perfect Place!

"We stayed here for one week. It was absolutely the best decision we made for our entire trip to NYC. The apartment has anything anyone could ever want -- wonderful decor, a beautiful shower, updated kitchen, a comfy couch area, and an absolutely glorious bed! Plus it's located in the best neighborhood, close to the subway and various food places. Barbara was great. She was very attentive and communicative if we needed something (the first night we had to turn down the heat a little). We didn't worry about a thing. I couldn't have asked for anything more. I will definitely stay here, if available, the next time I visit New York."

It is made up of five boroughs, including The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. Visitors to this city are best served by leaving the car at home and heading here by plane, to one of the city’s airports, by train to Pennsylvania station or even by bus. Getting around New York could not be easier than by its world-famous subway which is the largest of its kind in the world! It is worth knowing that, unlike most other subway systems, this one operates 24 hours a day.

Where to Start in New York City?

New York is like no other place on earth, and there is enough here to keep even the most demanding visitor happy for weeks. First-time visitors will definitely want to see the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Rockerfeller Center, Times Square, Ground Zero and the Bronx Zoo. Also, of course, a trip on the Staten Island Ferry is a must, as is taking in a show on Broadway, a walk in Central Park, and some shopping.

The Highlights of Each New York Region

The sights of the city are well known but visitors to New York City vacation apartments may wish to consider one of the fascinating walking tours. In the Bronx, find Edgar Allan Poe Cottage and the Exotic Courtyard Garden with colorful displays of exotic aquatics and tropical plants. Also in the Bronx is the Hall of Fame for Great Americans that, from 1900, has been honoring Americans who have made an important contribution to this nation’s history. Also see Van Cortlandt House and Park; built in 1748, it was once used by George Washington.

New York Like A Native is a walking tour of the famous Brooklyn Brownstones, Williamsburg, Coney Island and Fort Greene. Brooklyn is home to Coney Island, with its arcades, boardwalk, beach and rides, including the iconic Cyclone Roller Coaster. Kids will love the Children’s Museum here. Discover more about military history at Floyd Bennett Field, Fort Greene Park and Fort Hamilton Overlook. While you are here, also visit Pieter Claesen Wyckoff House, one of the oldest buildings in the city. You can also see Plymouth Church of the Pilgrims, dating from 1847, and of course, don’t miss Prospect Park.

A wealth of attractions awaits visitors to New York City lodging centered in Manhattan. There are a variety of museums with everything from folk art to the famous American Museum of Natural History with its dinosaurs and much more. Here is also the famous Apollo Theater. Take a bike tour of the city from here. This is the area for Broadway, Carnegie Hall and carriage rides through Central Park. New York is a city with some wonderful parks and the Bayswater Point State Park in Queens is 12 acres of beach, wetland and woodlands. In Staten Island, visit the Conference House, site of the 1776 Peace Conference with many of the founding fathers in attendance. Visit a working farm at the 260-acre nature preserve at Clay Pit Ponds State Park. This area is steeped in history and a trip to Richmondtown, a living history village and museum complex is a must.
