  • Nice house, difficult beach for swimming, quiet area

"House is nice, renovations are great Beach is rocky and access to water is limited. Bedroom linens need to be updated, worn out and no elastic, and no spares we could find. Very nice views. Back patio is not useable - used for storage and lots of bugs. Quiet area. 1 hour drive to Niagara Falls, close to wine trail. House had all necessary household items. Very clean house. Never saw any neighbors. Did some fishing from shore and caught fish. Lots of farm stands and orchards nearby. Overall a good place to rent, would do it again."

  • Great Experience

"We have family in Western New York, so over the years we have stayed in various hotels and other vacation homes. This quaint cottage in Hanford Bay was the BEST experience we have had in our travels! The owners of the cottage are very kind and caring. They are gracious hosts who have invested a lot of time, thought and finances into providing a great environment for their guests. They maintain the property beautifully. The cottage is well-stocked with almost all the conveniences of home. I was thankful for their smart window choices that provided great airflow through the home, even when it rained. All the appliances were newer and worked well. The home was clean and pristine. I appreciated the mud room when we came back from the beach. We have children and the layout was ideal for our family of five. We never felt crowded. The location was perfect for our needs! We enjoyed the beach, playground and basketball courts. The neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors are friendly. Yes, there are MANY trains! However, they are not bothersome. We found everything we needed nearby - groceries, gas, restaurants, deli, etc. Our hosts had provided wonderful resources on the area. It is our hope that we can go back to this cottage! It was the perfect getaway - a home away from home!"

  • Could not ask for more!

"We are getting ready to leave this property tomorrow and could not do so without writing a review. We rented David's Silver Lake home for the month of August, as I grew up in Buffalo and wanted to visit with family and friends. Two weeks before our arrival, I fell and broke my leg in 3 places. I emailed David and asked about handicap accessibility. He wrote back almost immediately and said he was going to have a ramp built, so I would be able to get into the house easily! Now that is above and beyond! And now the house has a ramp, in case a future guest needs it. :o). Esther, the caretaker, met us at the house and gave us the grand tour, including the private dock and side-yard area. This house has a huge front yard and access to an even bigger second lot next door- perfect for outdoor games..and a firepit(wood included) for s'mores and family sing-a-longs. The house is large and truly room for 10 to sleep comfortably. We have rented several vacation rentals and have never seen a kitchen so well equipped! Every possible dish, pan, glass is available, plus extras like a crockpot and storage containers. As mentioned in previous reviews, gorgeous Letchworth State Park is just a short drive away. We didn't get to hike, with my injury, but our daughter did and is coming back to camp there. We were totally impressed with the Charcoal Coral at the corner, an easy walk without a broken leg. Almost always packed...plan to go in between busy times. Specials most nights and entertainment too. If you like pasta, don't miss the Pasta Buffet on Wednesday night! We went twice! Family enjoyed the mini-golf. We did not make it to the twin drive-ins, but they show first-run movies, one drive-in more for kids and one for adults. We also really liked Daryl's Pizza and Wings, a short drive away. We recommend this wonderful retreat whole-heartedly and hope to return. It is quiet and peaceful...a great place to unwind!"

  • Wonderful retreat!

"This has been a great retreat in a beautiful setting within walk to Lake Ontario and public dock. The cabin has great sized kitchen for congregating and a nice sized living room to relax. Plenty of room for our family of six. The fire pit made perfect days end topped off with s'mores. An easy drive on the Robert Moses Parkway put us two blocks from the falls. If time allows be sure to visit Fort Niagara."
