"While looking for a place for extended family to gather, rather than staying in separate rooms in a hotel, we came across the property through an internet search. I only needed to walk up the cobblestone walkway and open the front door to feel the peace and serenity! The vaulted ceiling and woodwork of the greatroom was delightful and the new kitchen appliances and spacious dining table made the place so welcoming. Each room had its own flat screen tv and plenty of clean bedding and towels. The pool was heated to 86 by the owner and there were chairs galore for relaxing, as well as 3 gas grills and a fire pit with seating! The view of the river was beautiful, as was the décor of nautical and musical items. The owner was always available by phone or email and was gracious and kind. He even left us two bottles of wine and chocolates for our stay. We didn't want to leave and will be sure to check back in when we gather again in the future! Don't miss out on this hidden gem, which is only a few steps from some of the finest dining around, too!"

"There is nothing to say, except WOW! If you like the country and nature, this is the place to be. The hosts were accommodating and non-intrusive. There is plenty to see and do within 30 minutes to 1 hour. The bungalow is amazing, restful and beautiful."

"We had a lovely 4 days at this house on the shore of Lake Ontario. There are five bedrooms so we were able bring our adult son, and our adult daughter and her husband were also able to join us. The house itself is roomy, clean and quite comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen. It even comes with cable television and WiFi. There isn't a beach to speak of; there are steps leading into the water. We didn't choose to swim in the lake, but my daughter and her husband were able to launch their kayaks from the backyard. Mostly, we enjoyed being able to sit and read with a glass of wine and look out at the lake. The yard was big enough for us to play croquet with the set that comes with the house. We drove to nearby Lakeside Park one morning to play disc golf. The biggest drawback is also one of it biggest assets. It really is away from it all. We had trouble finding a grocery store. But there are plenty of farm stands in the area and an EZ Mart in Lyndonville, which is about 15 minutes away. However, if you plan to stay here, bring groceries with you or be prepared to do some driving. Overall, we had a lovely time here, and if you're looking to get away from it all, this is a nice place to do it."

"My wife and I stayed at the Butterfield Cottage for 3 days recently and were very impressed.
After reading the reviews I had some ideas of what to expect and have my own feelings on the property after staying there.
The location is lovely and is really out of the way, the cabin itself is very nicely laid out and decorated to a very high standard with every amenity you could want for a stay, full kitchen with modern appliances and Wi-Fi if you want to stay connected, we used the grill a few times and its a little older but does the job very well indeed.
Very high level of cleanliness and we were provided with a lot of the basic essentials for our stay ( paper products, cleaning supplies etc ) and opted to stop at the store on the way up to get what we needed for the stay, and with that being said BE PREPARED !! Its approximately a 15 minute drive until you get to the nearest gas station / store and even longer if you need a supermarket etc, this isn't the kind of place you can just "run out" for some milk ( but I think that's the appeal for me ).
I read the reviews about the neighbors and didn't find a problem myself, they kept to themselves and we kept to ourselves and there really was no issue, with the amount of land you have access to there really is no need to wander on the other properties.
A couple of things to note based on our stay.
1: The view of the lake is awesome and we enjoyed the sunsets at the end of the day, however the lake gets COLD !! during our stay our weather app was showing high 70's to low 80's temp, however the reality is that was much lower where we were, we would sometimes see a 15 - 20 degree temperature drop from the town of Barker which is only 5 miles or so away !! Don't trust the weather app ....maybe in the middle of summer its different but we were here early May and found that to be the case.
2. Bring bug spray, I got eaten alive just sitting by the lake, but it was totally worth it for the view and the serene location !!
I was about to rate this 5 stars but had to knock a star off, the reason being is that early in the afternoon on our second day we were disturbed by two guys on the property on a ride-on lawnmower and a strimmer cleaning up the property I totally understand the need for it to be done but don't understand why that wasn't done in the days leading up to the stay or the day/s after.
Disturbed the peace we were looking for on that day and was a little irritating."
