  • Look! Another Glowing Review!!

"Hard to find new & different superlatives, but here's an encapsulation: one week was NOT enough.... This cottage had everything, & though we'd like to thank the landlords for providing excellent weather, along with all the other amenities, I guess that would be overstating it. But everything they did provide, from location to accommodations to wildlife to relaxation (& okay, great October weather) was top-notch, & a second visit is definitely in order. The photos accompanying the listing tell the story; they were a large part of what attracted us in the first place. We celebrated my birthday & our anniversary there, & those celebrations included a small party. One of our friends remarked 'This place is so clean!', to which my husband replied, 'Yes, but we've only been here one day....' However, we kept it looking pretty much as we'd found it; didn't require a lot of effort, happily. We had a chance to meet owners Darcy & Maureen & to gab with them on a couple of occasions, & they didn't throw us out. Nor did they cringe when we said we'd be coming back. We are Great Lakes people from childhood (I was born in the city of Niagara Falls, NY), & we currently live only 90 minutes away from this idyllic spot, so for us, it is the ideal place for a getaway. We recommend it highly in every particular, & even if getting there requires a longer trip, it is indeed a worthwhile destination. Bravo, D & M. We look forward to seeing you & the lake & the ships & the Bald Eagle again!"

  • Could not ask for more!

"We are getting ready to leave this property tomorrow and could not do so without writing a review. We rented David's Silver Lake home for the month of August, as I grew up in Buffalo and wanted to visit with family and friends. Two weeks before our arrival, I fell and broke my leg in 3 places. I emailed David and asked about handicap accessibility. He wrote back almost immediately and said he was going to have a ramp built, so I would be able to get into the house easily! Now that is above and beyond! And now the house has a ramp, in case a future guest needs it. :o). Esther, the caretaker, met us at the house and gave us the grand tour, including the private dock and side-yard area. This house has a huge front yard and access to an even bigger second lot next door- perfect for outdoor games..and a firepit(wood included) for s'mores and family sing-a-longs. The house is large and truly room for 10 to sleep comfortably. We have rented several vacation rentals and have never seen a kitchen so well equipped! Every possible dish, pan, glass is available, plus extras like a crockpot and storage containers. As mentioned in previous reviews, gorgeous Letchworth State Park is just a short drive away. We didn't get to hike, with my injury, but our daughter did and is coming back to camp there. We were totally impressed with the Charcoal Coral at the corner, an easy walk without a broken leg. Almost always packed...plan to go in between busy times. Specials most nights and entertainment too. If you like pasta, don't miss the Pasta Buffet on Wednesday night! We went twice! Family enjoyed the mini-golf. We did not make it to the twin drive-ins, but they show first-run movies, one drive-in more for kids and one for adults. We also really liked Daryl's Pizza and Wings, a short drive away. We recommend this wonderful retreat whole-heartedly and hope to return. It is quiet and peaceful...a great place to unwind!"

  • Lakefront Home Away from it all

"We had a lovely 4 days at this house on the shore of Lake Ontario. There are five bedrooms so we were able bring our adult son, and our adult daughter and her husband were also able to join us. The house itself is roomy, clean and quite comfortable with a fully equipped kitchen. It even comes with cable television and WiFi. There isn't a beach to speak of; there are steps leading into the water. We didn't choose to swim in the lake, but my daughter and her husband were able to launch their kayaks from the backyard. Mostly, we enjoyed being able to sit and read with a glass of wine and look out at the lake. The yard was big enough for us to play croquet with the set that comes with the house. We drove to nearby Lakeside Park one morning to play disc golf. The biggest drawback is also one of it biggest assets. It really is away from it all. We had trouble finding a grocery store. But there are plenty of farm stands in the area and an EZ Mart in Lyndonville, which is about 15 minutes away. However, if you plan to stay here, bring groceries with you or be prepared to do some driving. Overall, we had a lovely time here, and if you're looking to get away from it all, this is a nice place to do it."

  • Our 2nd stay just as nice as the 1st!

"My husband and I stayed at Joe's house to spend the long Columbus Day weekend with our son, who attends college nearby. This was our 2nd stay at this warm and inviting cottage, and it felt like we were coming home again! Loved it the first time; loved it again. Joe is quick to respond to inquiries and is a most accommodating host whose main concern is making sure his guests are happy and comfortable. The house is within walking distance to beautiful Wilson-Tuscarora State Park and a short driving distance to many other areas of interest. Be sure to check out Olcott Beach ~ a quaint, charming, and pet-friendly town on Lake Ontario. We were fortunate to have glorious fall weather, and enjoyed using the fire pit one evening. The stars looked close enough to reach out and touch! Joe's home in Wilson is clean and well-equipped, and in a quiet, safe neighborhood. Most definitely recommend! Thanks, Joe!"
