"Old Girl Scout moms and daughters invaded the Butterfield Cottage. We really enjoyed our stay. The view of Lake Ontario, first in the morning, throughout the day, and late at night was so peaceful and calming. We even had a flotilla of geese to send us off. The kitchen is wonderful. The kitchen tools we brought (Be Prepared) were not needed. It was a great midpoint for seeing Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, and for stealing my daughter from Rochester. We even had the opportunity to kayak. The cottage is very open, and encourages conversation. I don't think we ever turned on the TV. The weather was so nice, we even took a tour of the Milky Way. We appreciated the owners leaving suggestions for local eateries, and groceries, as well as nearby attractions. The owners also left a few novels and several puzzles, one of which my daughter wanted to borrow to finish. I highly recommend this locale for its lake view, serenity, charm, and peacefulness. It was exactly what we wanted."

"We had a great time here. Property was ideal for kids and relaxation. House is well equipped with anything you could possibly need during your stay. We had a family of swans stop by for a visit. The kids loved going out and feeding them bread. We had a tree frog come down the chimney one morning and we got a real kick out of that experience. We took him and put him back outside. The neighbors are quiet and friendly. The only thing that kept me from giving the property 5 stars was how clean it was when we got there. The floors needed a thorough scrubbing and the place has cob webs and a lot of dusty corners. In all honesty, I'm a clean freak, so very few places I stay could live up to my expectations, but even my husband said something. I would also warn about the gnats this time of year. They were brutal at night. Keep the lights low and the doors closed unless you like cleaning up lots of little dead bugs every day. It's part of life on the lake. Try to make the best of it. The owner and her maintenance people are wonderful and I highly recommend this as a great vacation spot for a family with children. My kids were in heaven. The steps down into the lake were a real plus too. My kids loved swimming & playing in the lake and the large yard. We enjoyed nights by the fire pit and star gazing. The sunsets are gorgeous and so are the sunrises. Make sure you grocery shop before you settle in. The nearest grocery stores take a while to get to. There is a gas station/convenience store that sells beer near by, but it's expensive. Overall, we had a wonderful stay!"

"We spent 4 days here and had a wonderful time. The view of the lake is fantastic, the cottage is comfortable and had everything we needed, the neighbors are friendly and Lori and her husband are terrific! We would definitely stay there again and look forward to another trip north!"

"Cute cottage but very small. Our family of 4 was fine but, when our 3 friends came to visit, it was way too small as there was no place for us all to sit and eat (in or out). Excellent location for access to the private beach. The backyard needs a lot of work as it is mostly dirt and weeds and the fence needs repair. Overall if the beach is why you are going there then this is the place."
