  • What a great spot!

"We spent a week at this wonderful home away from home, and it was delightful! The rooftop porch on the boathouse was our favorite spot to watch traffic on the River, and it was great that it was under a roof itself, so that those of us who are sun-sensitive could get out of the sun. The view of Boldt Castle was fun, and the River was calm enough that the kids used kayaks to get around. One afternoon a neighbor even took my daughter sailing! The house is comfortable and roomy. We loved the fact that it had lots of spaces where one could go to get away from it all for a while, but the living room and the WONDERFUL PORCH were terrific places for all of us to congregate. The separate "apartment" was perfect for the grandparents to get a little peace and quiet occasionally. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to work in. The neighborhood was quiet, and there was plenty of good walking and good biking in the area. But the best by far was the porch of the house and the porch on the boathouse. Those alone made it worthwhile! One suggestion we would make would be a couple of reading lamps for evenings. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely property with us!"

  • SUOER PLACE TO STAY !

"Been going to this area for about 25 years every fall for fishing. We chose Great Meadows cause we were sick of all the small rooms or cabins that we had stayed in. This place is like a castle... Huge ... A well appointed modern kitchen and a giant Great room with big screen TV with surround sound. Grounds are well maintained and very secluded but yet only 5 min. from interstate 81. Already booked for next Fall!"

  • happy, happy memories

"Words cannot describe my great feeling of having arrived when we docked at Friendly Island. The island's gracious owner who rents her glorious place to allow others to share and experience pure joy and solitude whille breathing deeply and loving all the amenities fit for a king or queen, as they say. I loved relaxing, barbequing, swimming and having fun offering the "Queen's Wave" to the touring boat passengers and one night, listening to a rich, baritone voice singing Irish ditties, wafting over from Alexandria Bay. There was always a cool breeze at night and my stay here on Friendly Island has given me an experience with only positive vibes remaining and which I will cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you, Ellen for making Friendly Island not just a label but a reality. We appreciated all the labour and love that went into the creation of your island for all four seasons to boot."

  • Perfect!

"This was our first time booking a vacation rental online. We were skeptical to trust the reviews as we know that not everything you read online is accurate. Once we began communicating with Greg, the owner, and then arrived at the the cabin and looked around, we knew right away that the reviews and comments we very accurate! We are familiar with the Pulaski area as we have camped in a nearby site for many years. With a growing family that now includes three children between the ages of four months and five years of age, we were looking to find something that felt more like home yet was far away from the regular routines of being at home. This cabin did that and more! It had all the necessities that a family with (or without) children would need and added luxuries to make it feel like we were on a vacation. It was beautifully secluded, kid-friendly, and close enough to local attractions that we could enjoy a different activity (fishing, Salmon River Falls, museums and historical attractions, etc.) each day. During our first night at the cabin, we were already thinking about friends and family that we could invite for future family vacations. More importantly, we were already considering a romantic getaway. (No kids allowed!) This cabin has all the bases covered in terms of who would enjoy a stay. From a guys hunting trip, ladies getaway (wine and relax), a couple's romantic retreat, to families with children of all ages, this cabin can meet all of your needs. To make the entire experience even better, Greg was wonderful to work with. He was flexible, easy to communicate with and trustworthy. As I mentioned, this was our first time planning a vacation using an online source. We had many questions and he was patient and willing to answer them. This proved to be a situation where the reviews were accurate and insightful. We trusted others reviews and our gut instincts. In the end, it was a great vacation and one that we won't forget!"
