  • Amazing

"An amazing home, view and location. It doesn't get much better than this! Highly recommend this spot for large groups that want an easy ride to Sugar Mountain and close to a great tap room! Owners are very nice and easy to work with as well. Two full kitchens was extremely nice too!"

  • Easy communication and beautiful views

"We booked this house for a family vacation and had a good time. I have rented many houses through VRBO and always appreciate people giving pros and cons of the houses, so I hope this helps someone else. Pros: -Owners are very nice and QUICK to respond to messages -the house has lovely views and a great swing and hammock on the back deck. -the house has basic cleaning things in case you forget something at the store which is so awesome (some rental places we have been to have the house stripped bare) -the kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans and utensils -the house is secluded and far from most things so we would recommend it for people who want to hole up for a while and not leave the house -the house has fun toys for kids Cons - -the house is secluded and it is far from most of the major hiking places. We should have clarified this when booking but just be aware that this house is about 30 minutes North of downtown Banner Elk and then you drive 30 additional minutes from there to get to hiking places. -there is no dishwasher -the lower level of the house where the queen bedroom is is in the basement so it has a strong musty/mildewy smell and you hear the air handler come on and off. -the air hockey table needs new disks We would recommend this house but just want people to understand what they are getting when they rent it."

  • Perfect weekend away!!!

"My wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary with a weekend away at Bear Camp. It was wonderful. The property was beautiful and the location was exquisite. We enjoyed outings to Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, and several local wineries. I think we will make this a yearly trip. Thanks to the owners for offering their lovely home."

  • RESERVE THIS ONE NOW!

"This place is simply fantastic. Perfect location. Stayed for a weekend of snowboarding on Sugar (really close, three rights and a left). Just far enough away from ASU and immediate area to relax, but close enough for dining out. Road leading to the property is steep with curves, but no worries, since on our last night, with just a mere mention of snow/ice from the local weather "experts", the roads leading out of the property were already treated with slag by the time, and probably well before our scheduled check out. With that being said, I would recommend having 4WD in the winter (owner advised the same before our booking). Secure gated community with security (huge in my book). Clubhouse amenities were great and easily accessible with your assigned key. The indoor pool and hot tub were especially nice after full days on the Mtn. The condo itself is very clean and well took care of (two distinctly different issues if you think about it). The floor plan is great, as it feels much bigger than it is. The view, along with all the natural light from the many windows, was really nice as many winter getaway residences feel dark, cramped, and cold in my opinion. Kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals and the appliances were like new. I especially liked the abundance of counter space with plenty of outlets for all your charging/power needs. Bathroom/showers were clean and hot water was plenty. Bedrooms/beds were fine, the king in master was especially comfortable. So, in conclusion, just stop looking at the other ones and rent this one now! We did and would/will again in the future if it is open."
