  • Great Family Vacation

"8 of us arrived from the west and east coast for a 6-day family gathering. The house was perfect for our sleeping needs, differing multiple activities on porches and in living rooms, cooking and dining, etc. Beds were very comfortable and towels luxurious. The hot tub was a great meeting place at the end of the afternoon. We took walks right out the front door, saw a buck on our back hill, and found lots of activities in the neighboring areas."

  • Perfect Beech Mtn. Ski Spot

"Dates: 2/13 - 2/17/14 Number in party: 5 (2 Adult males, 3 Youth males [ages 7, 9 and 12]) After driving right past the well marked turn, we arrived @ the condo and were pleasantly surprised to find 2 snow shovels ready (located in the closet just inside the front door) to help us dig away the 12+ inches of freshly fallen snow. It was President's Day Weekend, the busiest weekend of the year for Ski Beech, and the perfect time to get in a long awaited ski vacation. Upon entering, you have a small vestibule (to park your snow boots) with an aforementioned coat/snow shovel/snow sled closet. A bedroom is located just ahead on the right (full size bed) with ample dresser/closet space and a 20" (or so) flat-screened TV. [Queen sized inflatable bed available in closet - Pump located in snow shovel closet]. Just down the hall is the stacked high-capacity washer/dryer combo (in as-new shape), the second bedroom (again with full-sized bed, ample dresser and closet space, 15" or so TV), and @ the end of the hall was a full bathroom. At the front door, just off the entry, are the ascending stairs to the upper living space. There is a 1/2 bath (toilet, no shower/tub) @ the top of the stairs - And while, initially, I felt a little disappointed that there wasn't a second shower, it really was never an issue (especially with 5 guys) - But the second toilet WAS needed. Thank God it was there! The living space was charming, accented by the "old-school" stove-pipe freestanding fireplace - The furniture was a little small for our party of 5, but we managed quite nicely. There is a small round table just off the living area that seats 4. We used this as our dining area (well, 4 of us did - which was fine because the kitchen had 2 built in bar-height counter seats for the adults to use). The kitchen was nicely stocked with pots/pans/utensils/etc. We brought all our food and cooked every morning and night - We never lacked for a thing. The condo is less than 1/2 mile from the slopes, though I can't imagine walking. The owner, Bruce, is just great and very accommodating to our requests. You need to check out Fred's Mercantile on top of 1 of the hills - Nice folks - Good prices for last minute items (ski masks, neck/lower face warmers, gloves, etc.) Remember that air-mattress I mentioned earlier? It took 4 "D" size batteries - DON"T get them from Fred's...$12/4 pack. But Bruce reimbursed me - Told you he was great! Definitely recommend! The kitchen upstairs"

  • Best Beech Vacation Spot ~ Highly Recommend!

"This is a beautiful home with great views and amazing waterfalls in the backyard. The owner was very helpful in planning the trip and provided detailed email with very easy arrival/departure instructions and local restaurant recommendations. The home is well-maintained and everything was clean and in good working order. We hiked all day every day with our two girls and lab and relaxed at night, watched movies and played LOTS of ping pong. Some of the best and most relaxing family time we have had in a long time! There are beautiful hiking trails a very short distance from the house as well as an awesome playground for kids at the nearby recreation center (short drive - and more hiking trails). It was also a short drive to Banner Elk or Boone (restaurants/shopping) and convenient to Linville Falls trails and Linville Caverns. We LOVE Fred's Mercantile - at least have breakfast there one morning. If you do take a dog, Beech has an awesome dog park - very pretty. Hawk's Nest ziplines also close - very friendly staff/guides for ziplining and worth the visit. The great location allowed us to fit so much into a short period of time without rushing around and I - like every other reviewer - have to mention that the sound and view of the waterfall really does add a LOT to the relaxing atmosphere! You just cannot appreciate it until you hear it and see it - it is amazing!"

  • Thanksgiving retreat

"We spent Thanksgiving at this great house. The kitchen had everything and more that was needed to cook delicious meals. It had everything.... just as advertised...The view was spectacular. The house is perfect for children as it has three separate floors , all with family rooms. The adults had privacy but we were still close enough to supervise. I highly recommend it for a family get together."
