  • Charming & Immaculate

"This is a beautiful and cozy home very close to downtown with every possible thing you could possibly need provided for you (except maybe wifi, but there are much better things to do in Black Mountain besides surf your computer so we didn't mind too much...we never even turned on the TV). It is quite possibly the cleanest rental home I've ever seen. The caretaker, Darlene, does a bang-up job and she really worked hard to turn the house around from the renters who vacated that day so we could get in before dinner. She has an impressive garden on the property and invited us to eat whatever we would like from it. The grounds are gorgeous and we loved lying in the grass under the massive oak in the front yard. The deck is fabulous and we enjoyed breakfasts out there at the huge handmade wooden table. We loved all the solar lighting outside greeting us when we returned home in the evening from nights out in Black Mountain. The upstairs bedroom is quite warm in the summer, but cooled down quickly at night with fans and the window open. We were 5 couples traveling together and Karen's other property next door, the Craftsman Cottage, provided us the extra 2 bedrooms we needed to accommodate everyone. I would highly recommend this property for your trip to Black Mountain."

"Rating Details: I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. I was somewhat unhappy with the location. The vacation rental was spotless. The property manager was very helpful. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Cabin was neat and clean. Furniture could have been more comfortable. Major drawback was access to highway. This was very dangerous Manager responded on 11/19/2014: Glad you enjoyed the cabin. Thanks for the feedback!"

  • Inconvenient access

"Remoteness due to difficulty in driving mountainous roads and streets and steep driveway is an incentive to limit trips into surrounding area, but, otherwise, great view and serene and isolated property."

  • Long weekend getaway

"my boyfriend, myself, and our pooch endured the trek from Florida to black mountain, at night, in the not so florida like weather (it was in the 70s when we left and was 28 when we arrived!) anywho, while the drive is NOT fun to take at night, Sherri answered our desperate phone call at 10pm to give us some pointers on how to get down to our cabin. We when finally arrived, the cabin was a sight for sore eyes. It was gorgeous and we loved every second of our vaca. Sherri even called to check on us the next morning. We went to a little place called straightaway cafe, quiet place good atmosphere and good food! It's about 3 miles but 15 minutes from the cabin. Asheville is a must! Lazoom comedy tours, pubcycle tour, brewery's galore... And the chocolate fetish if you're a fan of truffles! The trails on the property are fun as well if you want to feel a little outdoorsy. It was a much needed (but far too short, as always) getaway and we loved this cabin. The ONLY thing I could suggest is more lights outside because we had a difficult time making it up the hill with our bags in the dark when we arrived... So to avoid difficulties, arrive during daylight! We would definitely return to this cabin..."
