  • Peaceful and Relaxing!

"What can I say about this amazing place?? Beautiful. Peaceful. Tranquil. We stayed three night in the Trillium Cabin in August with three 17 year old boys and we had the most amazing weekend. The cabin was stocked with everything that we needed to prepare meals. The beds were very comfortable. We slept in every morning :) The linens were very nice and there were plenty of extra towels. ( thank you Laura) which we appreciated with three teenagers and a river and a hot tub. The hot tub was hot and ready when we arrived. We enjoyed exploring the grounds and the river each day. We fished and swam in the river. The boys tubed the river each day. We didn't catch many trout. We did catch rock bass and creek chubs or suckers as we call them. And a few small trout. The river is absolutely beautiful! But small enough to let three teenagers loose to have fun on all day and not have to worry. The boys were from one end of the property to the other each day. They were exhausted every night and actually went to sleep before midnight. The hot tub was nice at the end of the day to relax. But the porch with the river running by was the place to be in the morning and the evening.... With a hot cup of coffee or a cold beer. Just perfect! We truly enjoyed our stay here and will return in the future. The other cabin that is for rent on the property is up the little dirt road that runs right by this cabin and follows the river. A great place for friends or family to plan a vacation together."

  • The best of the mountains

"We rented this cabin for the location (remote) and for the trout stream. We live in Western North Carolina and didn't want to travel far to enjoy our Labor Day weekend. The trout stream was everything we hoped it would be. Our 12 year old son caught 4 rainbow trout the first morning we were there and we enjoyed a trout feast for supper. The cabin was roomier than I thought it would be with a good sized bathroom/laundry room. The living room had lots of comfortable seating and a great T.V. With a TV in every bedroom, we were all happy! We were impressed with the DVD library as well as the games, especially the American Special Edition of Monopoly. I loved sitting on the couch and looking out the picture window. The beds and pillows were very comfortable! The deck that overlooks the creek was a great place to have meals. It was a hot weekend and the A/C worked very well. While we were there, we tubed the Toe River in Loafer's Glory and enjoyed driving the quilt trail in Burnsville. It is easy to get turned around on the country roads, but we always found our way around without getting lost. We enjoyed driving around the mountains, following the river, and spying the barn quilts. People in the area take a lot of pride in their property. The roads were in great shape and it is paved all the way to the cabin. Very easy access. We enjoyed having a large crate to keep our dog in when we went tubing. There is also a portable crate that we borrowed one day to take her with us. We ate all of our meals at the cabin so we can't comment on any restaurants. Our stay was way too short, but we hope to be back! Many thanks to Bob for letting us have a late checkout since no one was checking in the day we left. That was a huge bonus. We all chipped in with the clean up and agreed it was well worth saving the money that most cabins charge for a cleaning fee!"

  • Great cabin with the perfect location in the mountains. Very resposive owner.

"We stayed for three days in the winter on the way to visiting our daughter in Asheville. We were very surprised by the amount of snow in the mountains, but this did not detract from our stay. We hiked on the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is only a few miles away. We hiked in the snow in the Pisgah national forest. We enjoyed warm hikes at two state parks, Lake James, and South Mountains state park. In the mornings and evenings, we enjoyed the well appointed living and kitchen at the cabin. The master bedroom in the loft was very comfortable, and had great views in two directions. The cell phone service was weak, but the cabin has excellent WiFi, and a regular phone, allowing clear conversations. Everywhere we went, the people were welcoming and friendly. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone that is looking for a getaway in the mountains."
