"My family and I planned a Christmas get together and ski vacation for the holidays. We split the group and stayed with four of us here and 8 staying near Grandfather mountain. this house was only 10 min away from the Grandfarther mountain house and Sugar Mt. was only another 10-15 min away. We went skiing on 2 separate days and snow tubing the third day. All easy access and close to the house.
On one of the rainy days days, we went to Linville Caverns and really enjoyed the tour! Very cool caves that the younger kids loved and tour docents kept us informed about their formation and history during the civil war.
We stayed for a week and made our meals often in the fully stocked kitchen. Loved that it had everything we needed. We had plenty of room on the floor in front of the TV to watch Christmas movies with the wood stove to give us that cozy feeling. We didn't need it for heat since the whole house and both bathrooms had heaters that were more than adequate.
Bedrooms and closet space was big enough to hold all our luggage and winter gear. Master bedroom had a nice dual zone electric blanket to use at night. Plenty of towels & space in the bathrooms and being able to have a nice washer and dryer for laundry just simply completed our needs. Everything was there and ready for us.
Our Hosts, were gracious and easy to talk with to coordinate our trip. They arranged contact with the keeper of the house to give us the keys and show us where everything is in the home. They filled us in on where to get groceries and find local restaurants. The Italian Restaurant (that's it's name) was just 2 min away and had great Pizza!
So, if you're looking for a vacation home that has it all and close to local attractions, I'd definitely recommend the stay here. Enjoy!"

"The Farmhouse is basically home away from home with better views and lots of land to roam and play. The property is huge!! The house is cozy, clean and very spacious. All the amenities from cookware, towels, cleaning supplies and more were readily available. Aside from food, everything we needed was there and easily located. And, downtown Banner Elk is only 5 minutes up the road so you can easily get what you need. It was spring during our stay so the 4 kids basically played outside for hours and hours exploring the nearby woods, climbing the hills and viewing the animals. Two cows and 1 donkey are kept in a nearby enclosed area but were very friendly and greeted us daily. Mr. H visits the property to feed the animals but you don't need to be there to meet him. He was very nice and told us a lot about the property and area. We also saw several deer and wild turkeys roaming the property. There is a fire pit so bring smores for roasting. Grandfather mountain is about a 10 minute drive but we visited Linville Falls and Linville Cavern--30 minute drive. Both great attractions. If you're looking for peace and quiet with great mountain views and lots of land this is the place for you."

"Our family came from all over the US to this lovely home in the NC Mountains. The house was comfortable, clean, in a high end area and close to restaurants and shops. We all agreed we would love to go back and stay at Boonefest. Thank you to the owners for all the great amenities. The Snow a day before Thanksgiving was an added benefit. Highly recommend!!!"
