  • Our favorite vacation!

"We just can't say enough good things about Lisa & Steve's beautiful farm. We felt right at home in their cozy farm house and couldn't have asked for more. Couldn't have been cleaner or more cozy. LOVED the animals, especially Jesse, PePe and Wilson. Lisa was so friendly and checked to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. She also shared delicious veggies and fruit from her gardens. The views are amazing and we loved our daily walks around the property. We also got to bring along our dogs who LOVED running in the meadow. Thank you for a great birthday vacation! We will be back!"

  • Excellent stay

"We (high school girlfriends) had our reunion at this property. What a fun time we had in a home that was well equipped and spacious for us to kick back and reminisce about days gone by! We enjoyed our privacy afforded by the many spacious rooms. The home has all the conveniences anyone would need!"

  • Absolute Perfect Getaway

"The property was amazing, we loved that it was out to its self, but close enough to town that you didn't have to drive far to do things. The horses were an absolute joy, our son got to hand feed, which he had never done. They were so gentle. We even saw a bear crossing the road going to Banner Elk! We all just loved the cabin and the location. The cabin was well stocked with all you need and the sun room was our favorite spot in the cabin. We can not wait to go back and hope to stay at the cabin again. Mary was a so nice to talk to and gave us great directions to get there. Over all we had an excellent trip thanks to Mary and her beautiful cabin."

  • A Wonderful Stay!

"This was our first time staying at Sugar Meadows. We booked this lovely pet-friendly property back in July with our beloved dog in mind, but she never got to enjoy it. Four days before our arrival, we had to put her down. It was with mixed emotions that my husband and I made this trip to Banner Elk the first week of October to celebrate my birthday. It would have been a perfect place for our 13-year old lab / sheep dog mix to vacation, too. Despite our sadness, we had a wonderful stay in Banner Elk at Sugar Meadows. This well-maintained modern home feels alot like a log cabin, is beautifully decorated, roomy, comfortable, and very clean. Starter paper products, hand and dish soap, spices and some kitchen staples were available. Soft bath and bed linens were a really nice touch! The central heat worked great! Our cell phones functioned just fine (as did the wifi) and the TVs access lots of channels. The well-equipped kitchen and large master bathroom (double vanities) were truly appreciated. The mountain views are nice from the front porch and the area is very quiet and peaceful. You are just minutes from a variety of places to eat and a Food Lion grocery store. We ate several times at Pedalin Pig (great ribs, friendly staff) during our stay. And of course there is plenty to do in the area! We had visited Grandfather Mountain before so we took scenic drives this trip, to the tops of Seven Devils, Sugar and Beech Mountains – great views. The leaves are just beginning to turn fall colors (more in the higher elevations). We shopped at the Mast General Store in Valle Cruses (you get to the Annex first, just keep going), drove miles along the Blue Ridge Parkway (did several short hikes from it, including the one under the viaduct) and also found the beautiful Elk River Falls off Hwy 19e. We took over 200 photos and shot some videos, too. Be careful relying only on the GPS. We found it is not always accurate. Before leaving home and venturing out, we used Google and Google Earth to find the Sugar Meadows property, and also to research and locate places of interest in the area, and this really paid off! Sherry (owner) was easy to work with and has succeeded in providing a lovely retreat for her guests. We highly recommend Sugar Meadows and Banner Elk as year-round destinations to vacation and make new memories."
