"My husband and I rented Rodney's cabin because we wanted a quiet getaway for Labor Day weekend. We were hoping for a place that offered peace, but was also central to Boone and was close enough to restaurants to not feel like it was a hike to eat out. The cabin did not disappoint - we sat for endless hours on the glorious (and expansive) back deck, taking turns in the rockers and on the porch swing, listening to the bahh'ing goats and clucking roosters across the hillside from the cabin. We read and relaxed, and it is oh-so-quiet (and dark) at night, which makes for excellent sleeping!
The cabin is also only about 5 minutes from a very populated area where you can find grocery options and restaurants. We ventured over to Valle Crucis (10 minutes away) for dinner one night at "Over Yonder" (fantastic!) and shopping at the original Mast General Store. On Saturday, we took a look from Boone to Banner Elk (winery there is great!) to Blowing Rock, cruised on the parkway past Grandfather Mountain and soaked up gorgeous mountain views.
All in all, it was awesome. House has everything you could possibly need in the kitchen. Main floor master with king bed, main floor bedroom with 2 doubles, upstairs master with king, downstairs game room and queen sleeper sofa, and three FULL bathrooms. I looked at a lot of houses on VRBO and having three full baths to accompany the three bedrooms is rare. Rodney is also very easy to work with, and very responsive.
We highly recommend the cabin, and in fact already booked it for a ski weekend with family in the winter. Can't wait to go back!"
