  • Perfect and cozy cabin

"We stayed at the cabin for four nights and we had a wonderful and relaxing time. The cabin is equipped with everything you need and it is very comfortable. It's exactly as shown in the pictures. The communication with the owner Mike was mainly through email and we found everything as described. The cabin is located very close to both Beech Mountain resort and Sugar Mountain resort and we had the chance to ski and to go ice skating. Once we even saw some snow flurries, but it didn't stay on the ground. The skip slopes were perfect though. Some things to mention: The cabin doesn't have a closet but you can hang your bigger stuff like ski bib and jacket on a coat rack. The wall heater keeps the cabin very warm but you have to keep it on a fixed setting since it's not controlled by a thermostat and the built in fan of this heater creates some noise. The gas fire logs makes the cabin also very cozy once you figure out how to start it. It doesn't stay on for a long time though since it seems to be somehow temperature controlled. Then you usually have to restart it again. Once we used the hot tub but the warm water heater doesn't fill it very full the first time. You have to wait 15 minutes or so and can fill it so that all jets are finally under water. However these are just minor things which didn't diminish our excellent rating of the cabin at all. We would love to come again!!"

  • High Country Heaven

"This was our first trip to the High Country area and we were extremely excited with our choice to stay at Ambleside from day one. The cabin is located only minutes from Boone, Blowing Rock, & Banner Elk, yet it is far enough out to get away from it all. Ambleside's warm decor makes you feel at home from the first time you walk in the door. The furnishings are high quality, plentiful, and the owner's have provided everything imagineable to make for a wonderful experience from the moment you arrive at Ambleside. The unobstructed view of Grandfather Mountain is spectacular and Little Bavaria is just a great little area close to historic Valle Crucis. Ambleside is the kind of place where you can spend seven days without every leaving and be completely satisfied. There are hundreds of cabins to choose from in the High Country area and it can seem a little overwhelming; Ambleside is a choice that will exceed expectaions and is dog friendly."

  • Delightful

"MY husband and I absolutely ADORED this cabin. We loved learning the history behind it and reading about the move. The cabin is just far enough outside of town to enjoy peace adn quiet, but still close enough to get to Boone or Blowing Rock quickly. The cabin was very clean, warm, cozy, and inviting! I highly recommend the cabin to any couple or small family!"
