  • Beautiful house with an awesome view!!!

"The house is has a great layout with lots of space for kids. There is even a ping pong table downstairs. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that the kitchen didn't have large pots or crockpot or pan which made cooking for a large group difficult and we had to buy a stockpot. If I had know I could have brought some things from home. But I would DEFINITELY rent here again."

"This is the second year I stayed at the cabin. Of course it is a beautiful cabin with all the comforts of home. Beautifully decorated but the main attraction for me is the absolutely gorgeous view 360 degrees around the cabin. Everywhere you look outside the cabin you see glorious mountains. We had a nice picnic at the New River State Park beside the river, took a nice hike, then drove to Boone through the Blue Ridge Parkway to see more mountains and stopped for pictures at all the overlooks. In Boone we shopped and had a great lunch. The next day we headed for West Jefferson City a few miles away and enjoyed all the shopping, art galleries and the restaurant where we ate. Every night we built a huge bonfire in the backyard with wood supplied in the shed and roasted marshmellows and made S'mores drinking hot chocolate, of course. The owner is so helpful in giving directions, describing interesting places to visit and responding to any requests you may have. I will be back next year and every year after. Thanks for sharing your home Pat."

  • Mountain Comfort!

"This is a very fun home to stay in and easy to get to. Its low key comfort, nice sleeping beds and cozy fireplace make you feel right at home. The well equipped kitchen set up to feed a group buffet style eating in or on the deck make it nice for entertaining. It sleeps 9 people easily and has the three and a half baths giving everyone room and plenty of hot water for showers. The three floor lay out allows those wanting to sleep late in the morning, nap in the afternoons or stay up late at night the space and freedom to do so. Another unique feature of the home, it is set up nicely for a couple to stay on the main floor level with kitchen, great room, master bedroom and bath along with the deck therefore not having to use the lower or upper level floors. The home is very clean, well kept, sunny, inviting and peaceful. The deck, side patio and great room are nice gathering places for a group or for one to relax with the mountain view. The home is located in a very peaceful and safe area where you do not feel others are to close yet it is a short distance to stores and interesting shops for your needs and pleasure. There is plenty of site seeing in the area within a short distance. Overall the home is a place you will want to return with a group or just a quiet get a way for two."

  • Wonderful week of relaxation in cozy cabin... :-)

"The Raccoon Holler cabin was a very cozy and relaxing retreat! My husband and I enjoyed our stay there very much. The cabin was clean and furnished with "home-y" extras (family photos, throws for curling up on the couch, games, etc.). We enjoyed sitting on the front porch, watching the ducks in the pond across the road. We had a good meal at Mountain Aire Seafood and Steaks down the road as well as at Smoky Mountain Barbecue a few miles away in West Jefferson. We recommend visiting the Churches of the Frescoes (West Jefferson and Glendale Springs), the Ashe County Cheese Factory and Store (West Jefferson), and Cascade Falls/E. B. Jeffress Park (mile marker 272 off Blue Ridge Parkway). There are lots of other attractions and things to do in the area. Just see Kathleen in the Visitors Center in downtown West Jefferson. She was very helpful! :-)"
