  • Gorgeous getaway

"I took my dog and boyfriend here for a relaxing weekend hiking around the NC mountains. I'm glad we picked a spot away from civilization- the drive here felt like going back in time in a very good way. The worst part of the stay was having to fix the toilet (only took a couple minutes though), but perhaps leaving with only 2 days of enjoyment was much worse than that! The view from the deck was pretty amazing during the day and the summer night woods were glittered with lightning bugs. Talk about heaven on earth- sitting in a hot tub with a great view of stars galore. The inside of the cabin was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, and has plenty of room to spread out with comfy couches and an overall relaxed yet spacious feeling to the place. The Saddlebrook Restaurant and staff were very accommodating and the food was great. Keep in mind you are a good drive from a town with excess shopping, but it is very convenient and a beautiful drive to Boone, Blowing Rock, Linville and other areas that you'd want to make sure to visit. Overall I would recommend this vacation rental for those looking to get away from it all, especially those with dogs and/or horses. We drove away not only wishing we could stay longer, but wanting to look at additional real estate around the Leatherwood Mountains :) Breathtaking is a good way to describe this area. We'll be back, hopefully soon!!!"

  • Wonderful cabin

"The cabin and location are lovely. Working with the owner was a pleasure. The cabin was exactly as described. I would recommend, as someone before me recommended, that you arrive in daylight. It can be hard to find in the dark on the day of arrival. It's close to the Parkway...another plus."

  • Tops in Chetola!

"We have been coming to Chetola for twenty years, staying in too many properties to count. Without a doubt, you will not find a more comfortable, inviting, well-appointed unit. The accommodations are top-notch, the views are fabulous, the owner was wonderful to work with! For many reasons, it's been two years since the whole family could get away at the same time. But this weekend worked. Unfortunately, it never broke 70* and not a minute of sunshine! (Actually, there were few minutes of dry weather.) Despite that, everyone had a fabulous time - and most of it was spent in this wonderful home! We watched movies, played games, cooked together, fished, took advantage of some spa services. (We did take a few quick trips into town for some fabulous meals.) this home is large enough to give everyone space yet intimate enough to create wonderful bonding moments. Each bedroom has comfortable beds, more than ample closet space, a ceiling fan, a television, walking room (you will not feel claustrophobic), and its own bathroom. The living room was very comfy with a view of the lake (and it's own television). The huge downstairs den also had a wonderful view of the lake, comfy furniture, it's own television, and gas logs. For those with small children: not to fear - the owner has a gate for the stairs in the master closet and the rooms have room for a portacrib setup. For couples traveling together - no twin beds here! If you are considering a trip to the Boone/Blowing Rock area and looking at this home - take advantage of the opportunity. You won't regret it!"

  • Great Get-Away

"Bonnie, We absolutely loved your warm, charming cabin. From the moment we walked in the door we felt relaxed. The music from your CDs added to the Thanksgiving holiday spirit. We had no idea how close the cabin is to the lake and enjoyed morning walks up the road with views of the lake. In addition, we enjoyed being so close to Chimney Rock and the village. Strolling through the town and enjoying the holiday lights was great after hiking up to the top of Chimney Rock. Thank you for allowing my family to enjoy your wonderful cabin."
