"My husband and I stayed for a 4 day weekend and really enjoyed ourselves.
We cooked every meal while there, and ate them all on the deck. The deck has a lovely view, outdoor speakers, and plenty of space. We had amazing weather so we were lucky enough to spend the majority of our time outside.
Basically everything we needed in the kitchen was provided. The kitchen is small and a bit cramped while cooking, but 1 person can fit in there to cook. That's all we needed! Plus there's a dishwasher so that is very helpful! We used the grill on the deck to make a couple meals and that is quite handy. There were very few nearby choices for dining out, but we expected that and brought groceries. The trip to Marion is long due to winding roads (not mileage), but its not too bad if needed or wanted (we went for delicious ice cream!).
Access to the Parkway is quite close. We hiked at Craggie Gardens, Crabtree Falls, and Linville Falls, all off the Parkway. All were not too far for day trips and all are awesome. We also went to Roaring Fork Falls near the cabin and its lovely and secluded.
The neighbors ARE close. I assume this is often not an issue, as you can't really SEE them...but during our stay the neighbors were partying constantly and incredibly loud. This was a bit annoying, but not the chalet's fault in any way. It was Memorial weekend so I assume they were there to party (and possibly a rental also).
The Master bed is divine - so comfortable. We did not use the other room, but we love that we could invite friends here to join us in the future if we want. It would be fine for 4 people.
We brought our 2 dogs and they had a great time. They got to roam around outside, sleep in the sun on the deck, and go hiking with us. They were happy pups! Mainly they just came inside to sleep after exhausting days.
We did use the provided firepit and that is another great feature - we enjoyed that quite a bit.
We had absolutely no AT&T service (nowhere nearby), but the available wifi helped us be able to watch Netflix a couple times. Since we came here to get away, being a bit disconnected was lovely.
I would say that if you're looking for a small, rustic place to relax and be near hiking, this is the place for you. We'll definitely be back."

"We stayed here for a week at the end of June and had a wonderful time. The house is spacious, well maintained, clean and has famtastic views of Lake James and the mountains. We ate every meal out on the deck so that we could enjoy the views - although the lake side of the house is all floor to ceiling windows so you could enjoy the views from inside as well. We don't own a boat so we explored the area and found Black Mountain (lovely mountain town, golf) and Catawba Falls (good hike to waterfalls) to be about 1/2 hour away, Asheville is about 45 minutes away. The homeowner let us use his kayaks which were great fun for all. As far as the stairs to the lake are concerned - forewarned is forearmed. They are steep and long but we all managed to get up and down several times a day, some of us stopping to catch our breath more often than others! I think to make the very most of your vacation at this home it would be good to either have your own boat or make arrangements to rent a boat through the homeowner or perhaps at the marina. The homeowner was very easy to work with and provided lots of brochures, maps and other helpful info at the house to ease in exploring the area. We highly recommend this rental."

"My family really enjoyed this house. It was spacious and was well equipped. My only complaints is I wish the owner would take out the pictures of the sliding board and the paddle boat, because these are no longer there. Also, if you want to play bags you need to bring your own set because the bags themselves had holes in them. I don't think you should advertise something you no longer have as we were expecting these."

"This cabin is perfect for a romantic getaway. It's quaint and extremely private. The screened in porch offered the perfect place to relax and enjoy the surrounding nature. Customer service from start to finish was impeccable!"
