Recent Lake Lure reviews

  • Splendid and Grand just like we wanted!

"This truly is a magnificent home and exactly what we were looking for in a week long stay at Lake Lure. We wanted waterfront,... water sports,... space,... peace,... quiet and luxury. This has it all. Magnificent kitchen that allowed us to take care of most of our meals. Out-door cookout area had plenty of space for our final super with added friends. Clean and spacious bathrooms with ample hot water for all 10 of our crew. Pool table for when the weather was off and lots of other social spaces for a group to break up in if they wanted. The home is clean and in fantastic condition. Very nicely furnished and spacious. Centrally located with only a 5 minute drive to the grocery store and restaurants, and quietly nestled up on a bank that gave us a great view of the lake. This is a fantastic home and we will look to come back again in the future. Thanks for a memorable and magical time on the water. Kurt Begemann (Boston, MA)"

  • Thoroughly enjoyable

"This is a great location to spend a vacation and agree with everything the prior reviews stated except the coffee pot (may be a new one) quickly brewed coffee. We under-utilized a lot of the space, but what we did use was wonderful! The den with fireplace is so-o-o cozy for downtime. All of us watched Dirty Dancing and two other movies in the den and utilized the TV in the main area for news. Our two teens LOVED the basement! They enjoyed the seclusion, ability to spread out and laundry room doubling as a private dressing area. With their ipads and iphones in use, they wanted me to remove the TV from the end table. The walking exercise circuit on the property was a fun group activity every morning, and the massage therapists at the Wellness Center are excellent. Paddle boarding was easy to do and we found a sandy, secluded beach area to take a break before we returned. The life size checkerboard was a favorite, too. We enjoyed climbing the stairs at Chimney Rock and walking to the beautiful falls at the end of Hickory Nut trail. The pizza and wings at the on-site Legends restaurant are very good. We found lots of little coffee shops in Chimney Rock as well as a hidden gem—Tia B’s Mexican restaurant (closed Wednesdays). The airport and Asheville are only an hour away. Part of our family drove from MI and the Garmin GPS took us the wrong way in the NC mountains a few times which was very frustrating and once we got our bearings, we ended up taking 74/240 to Asheville downtown (5 times) and 74/64/26 to and from the airport (2 times). They are maybe not the fastest routes, but definitely the easiest—with beautiful scenery. Fairlake provided a great base for a memorable vacation."

  • Great Family Vacation

"Our family stayed at Apple Slices last week. We had a wonderful time. The home was so much more than the photos reveal. It was clean, well kept and not having to bring linens was a definite plus! We truly enjoyed our time and will highly recommend it! We went tubing down the river, shopping in Asheville, toured the Biltmore and spent time at the Lake, playing putt-putt and shooting pool in the game at the house!"

  • Carolina Heaven in Lake Lure, NC - Stunningly heaven on earth

"From the clear mountain range view to starry night - to cloud covered mountains - to rainy afternoons - to windy evening - to morning with the clouds just beneath us covering the mountains as if you were in heaven....what an amazing home to relax and experience everything God's mountains have to offer. Once you arrive, you won't want to leave."
