  • Christmas/New Year's Vacation

"My family and I visited the River House from December 26th - January 2nd. What a perfect place! We rented out the entire home for our stay since we were a big family. We can't say enough about our stay! We loved the location. It was right on the river and had absolutely breathtaking views. We dined at Medina's a couple times and Genny's. Everyone in the town was so nice. Our family was very comfortable in the home and it was just a perfect vacation. The washer and dryer were great to have as we came home with all clean clothes :) We visited the state park just a few minutes away. We cooked at the home a few of the days and were able to eat on the deck over looking the river. My family thanked me over and over for finding such a GREAT PLACE. Lastly, Rondi was so great in setting everything up with us. She was accommodating for absolutely everything and we really felt right at home. Definitely high recommendation!"

  • Our Trip

"My family, wife and I, 3 girls (14,17,18) had a wonderful time here. We went to Asheville one day, about a 45 minute windy drive. Watched the World Cup soccer because the cabin did not have ESPN, surprising. Chimney Rock is 10 minutes away and has lots of good hiking trails, we all liked that. We went to the Linville Caverns, 1 hour away, which was fun and then went to the Linville Falls which was very close. Good hiking and cool waterfalls. Best part of the trip was going to Saluda and Green River Adventures to do white water rafting. Much fun. The cabin has everything you need."

  • Wonderfully well maintained cabin with a view and large yard that is great for kids

"We stayed here with our 3 year old son and invited friends that also have a toddler, so a large, safe yard was a must for us. The yard was perfect for them. It was large and relatively flat, which is a tough find in the mountains. There was a fantastic fire pit that we used to roast marshmallows and hot dogs. The kids loved it. In fact, I already bought the same one for home! The cabin itself was surprisingly well-maintained and well appointed. I've stayed at other VRBO rentals in the Blue Ridge area and this cabin, while small, is much nicer. It has DirecTV and a great sound system. I connected my laptop with a HDMI cable to play music. The owners should consider adding a Roku to the system for Pandora and Netflix. The gas fireplace is easy to use and puts out a lot of heat. The top floor gets really warm because of the open layout, so you may need to open one of the upstairs bedroom windows a bit to vent some of the heat. The kitchen is well stocked with everything we needed to cook our meals with. I heartily recommend this cabin to other families with small children. Be sure to bring a baby gate for the stairs if they aren't old enough to go up and down by themselves."
