  • Ideal Getaway

"What a beautiful cabin & beautiful surroundings!!!! The cabin is even more lovely than pictured & the location (& fabulous front porch) make it the ideal getaway. The kitchen was well stocked & the furnishings were clean & comfortable. The unpaved roads surrounding the cabin are great for walking the dog & the short walk down to the river, although steep, provides a great view of the New River."

  • Amazing Mountain Views

"Wonderfully comfortable home located centrally between Boone and Blowing Rock; only minutes to each. Endless mountain vistas from the two decks. Owners very helpful. Feels like ones own home vs rental. Highlights were the Charity Horse Show and Tweetsie RR. The Village restaurant in BR has a fantastic breakfast."

  • better than advertised

"We selected MTM for a lengthy family reunion/vacation based upon the very complete descriptions and photos provided on VRBO. Even so, we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival! Actually before then, we had frequent, timely and helpful communications with owner Deborrah. The property was in very good shape, very clean, expansive lawns and landscaping well-maintained, and well-furnished and -equipped. When we did encounter very small and quite normal maintenance issues, the owners' representative was wonderfully responsive. Deborrah kept in touch throughout our sojourn and was genuinely interested to assure our good experience. We knew the area (and its many activities and restaurants) but there was lots of information in the house to guide a new visitor. We were anxious to escape the summer heat of the flatlands, and boy did MTM meet that need. We noted July daytime highs of 68-70 degrees at our 4200-feet altitude, while our hometown was experiencing 90's. The setting and convenience (so near Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, Boone),the views, and the quality of the house are five-star; our only rationale to rate as four derives from the age of the home and a few not-yet-updated bathrooms, and some mattresses past their prime. Wish there was a 4.6. We would definitely return, gladly."

  • Refreshing retreat

"Our recent stay in this rustic mountain hideaway really was the definition of its name – Rock Creek Retreat. It was a retreat in every aspect, a 3,000-foot-high escape for a few days in August from our ordinary lives in muggy, sea-level Florida. The accommodations were as described: A spacious, comfortable cabin that had everything necessary for a North Carolina getaway -- not the least of which was the front porch. There we spent cool mornings and evenings swaying to the soothing rush of the Broad River below as we mapped out our daily outings. Some days it was difficult leaving the tranquility of the porch and its own scenic views to explore the many nearby attractions, both natural and man-made. Other days we just descended to the rocky river, wading in its chilled waters as we set about discovering what was beyond the next curve or mini-rapids. What we found in our expeditions were settings as gorgeous as any postcard image of an isolated stream in the lower Appalachians. This truly is a place where you can get away from it all. We had no issues related to our rental arrangements. We left recharged and wishing only one thing – that we might return some autumn to experience, outside, nature’s dramatic palette along the riverbanks and, inside, the cozy warmth and fragrance of the wood-burning stove."
