"We have come down to Banner Elk from Michigan for 3 years so my husband can teach a CSI camp at the college and this is the best place we've stay at. It's even nicer than pictures. It's just right for us and our 2 kids. The view is beautiful. I really appreciate all the storage for clothing and toiletries. For those who are wondering, you can hook an Xbox One up to the HDMI TV. Our son had his hooked up within just a few minutes of arrival. When my husband was finished teaching for the day we went on adventures - zip-lining, Wild Cat Lake, and Elk River Falls. I hope we can come back."

"Enjoyed our visit very much. Accommodation very homey and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen. Great view and deck. Enjoyed feeding the birds. House a little musty from being closed up. You can use Fabreze spray on carpets and furniture to eliminate this. Wash sheets and towels in Borax. Caretaker was very helpful. Location near interesting sights and shops. Don't know if we will be able to visit again as we are seniors not in the best of health. Otherwise, we certainly would. Best to you and yours."

"My husband and I stayed for a 4 day weekend and really enjoyed ourselves.
We cooked every meal while there, and ate them all on the deck. The deck has a lovely view, outdoor speakers, and plenty of space. We had amazing weather so we were lucky enough to spend the majority of our time outside.
Basically everything we needed in the kitchen was provided. The kitchen is small and a bit cramped while cooking, but 1 person can fit in there to cook. That's all we needed! Plus there's a dishwasher so that is very helpful! We used the grill on the deck to make a couple meals and that is quite handy. There were very few nearby choices for dining out, but we expected that and brought groceries. The trip to Marion is long due to winding roads (not mileage), but its not too bad if needed or wanted (we went for delicious ice cream!).
Access to the Parkway is quite close. We hiked at Craggie Gardens, Crabtree Falls, and Linville Falls, all off the Parkway. All were not too far for day trips and all are awesome. We also went to Roaring Fork Falls near the cabin and its lovely and secluded.
The neighbors ARE close. I assume this is often not an issue, as you can't really SEE them...but during our stay the neighbors were partying constantly and incredibly loud. This was a bit annoying, but not the chalet's fault in any way. It was Memorial weekend so I assume they were there to party (and possibly a rental also).
The Master bed is divine - so comfortable. We did not use the other room, but we love that we could invite friends here to join us in the future if we want. It would be fine for 4 people.
We brought our 2 dogs and they had a great time. They got to roam around outside, sleep in the sun on the deck, and go hiking with us. They were happy pups! Mainly they just came inside to sleep after exhausting days.
We did use the provided firepit and that is another great feature - we enjoyed that quite a bit.
We had absolutely no AT&T service (nowhere nearby), but the available wifi helped us be able to watch Netflix a couple times. Since we came here to get away, being a bit disconnected was lovely.
I would say that if you're looking for a small, rustic place to relax and be near hiking, this is the place for you. We'll definitely be back."

"We took a family vacation here in end of July/early August and it was so nice. The house was on a quiet street with mountain views. There were plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. They even supplied a dog bed for our dog, which she loved. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Would book again."
