  • Total relaxation

"Had a great time, totally unplugged and enjoyed nature. Fishing, and nature walks, fresh air and cooler weather. Will definitely plan a trip to visit again in the near future. Your home is set up perfectly with all the comforts of home."

  • What a beautiful and peaceful place to vacation!

"We recently vacationed at "Shalom" and had a wonderful time. The house and property are beautiful and well-maintained. The "roaring creek" is delightful with its waterfalls and pools. Our grandchildren very much enjoyed playing in and exploring the creek. There are a number of ways to take nice walks and hikes from the property so that it is not necessary to drive to another location to hike. Working with Wendy was delightful as well. These were all selling points for us when we rented Shalom for a week and we were very pleased with our stay. The only negative thing was leaving to go home and we look forward to returning soon. We’ve vacationed and rented properties in North Carolina and many other places, and this was one of our nicest times. We highly recommend staying at Shalom."

  • Exactly as you see in the picture! Beautiful!

"My husband and I stay here for 4 nights and loved every minute of it. Everything you may need is already there. It was very clean and comfortable and we will definitely come back. We were sad to have to leave! Thanks for making it so affordable for people to enjoy a relaxing vacation. You have a beautiful place. The only thing we were disappointed in was the lack of wildlife but it was a bit hot and I didn't blame the deer for staying in the trees. Thanks again. The Owens' Elm City NC"

  • Fantastic place for a group!

"This is a great spot for a group or family reunion. The house feels brand new and is well-equipped with everything you need. The location and the views are spectacular. We enjoyed the many spaces to gather including the large back porch and dining area. It is an easy drive to Boone and to Blowing Rock. The realtor is extremely responsive to questions ahead of time. I'd recommend bringing a larger car if possible, as the driveway is quite steep and unpaved. Thank you!"

Old Fort Travel Tips

Old Fort Vacation Rentals Serve As Bridge to History

Named in the vein of the "old fort" living that proceeded the Revolutionary War, Old Fort vacation rentals scenically sit just east of Asheville at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, near the head of the Catawba River and just off the Continental Divide. For more than 8,000 years, the cozy Western North Carolina town has reverently provided its lure of old-school charms and southern-styled hospitality. Persistent sounds of nature and flowing mountain air breezes make the appeal of trout or fly-fishing at nearby Newberry Creek all the more enticing. Private Blue Ridge Mountain cabins can offer cozy dining facilities, charmingly enhanced by native stone fireplaces, and fully kitchens replete with modern cabinetry; they also can offer the combination of spacious bedrooms and hand-crafted staircases leading to open-air loft spaces, which make your stay all the more heavenly.

Old Fort Cabin Living, New Age Tourism

At the heart of the Old Fort, Blue Ridge Mountains Resorts beat the pulse of exorbitant, charmed North Carolina living at its most rich and refined. Immerse yourself in attractions ranging from skiing at nearby resorts, hiking any one of several wondrous trails, climbing Grandfather Mountain, or simply chilling out via a rocker under the crystal blue skies and basking sunlight.

Old Fort Lodging, History Fully on Display

Explore North Carolina's history through the prism of a number of world famous museums, including the state-run Mountain Gateway, which features riveting exhibits on pioneer living bolstered by a pair of authentic log cabins from that era. Also, the nearby Carson House boasts exhibits that extensively delve into Civil War lore, including a wildly popular and historic Davy Crockett themed exhibit. And then there are the Appalachian Artisan Gallery and Old Fort Music Hall, where exhibitions exuding both handmade art and bluegrass themed music revues are likewise delightfully common.
