  • The Perfect Mountain Cabin

"A wonderful place to stay! Comfortable beds, plenty of room to relax inside and out. The owners take great pride in their property and it far exceeds the average rental. So peaceful. The only sound comes from the small stream along the side of the house and it is mesmerizing. We can't wait to stay again!"

  • A WONDERFUL TIME AT CREEKSIDE CABIN IN WEST JEFFERSON, NC!

"My husband and I had a great week-long stay at this cozy cabin. It is fully equipped and the interior is beautiful and so charming. The location was perfect for what we wanted to do. Just a few miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway ((You HAVE to hike the Cascades Trail at Jeffress Park - milepost 272)) and about a quarter mile from the swimming beach at Elk Shoals. Downtown West Jefferson has loads of lovely shops and restaurants and is close by. The property is private and quiet and feels remote, but you're close to everything. The creek runs alongside the house and lulled us to sleep each night. The owner has planted lots of wonderful flowers and there's butterflies everywhere....so beautiful! We will definitely return next year and hopefully for a longer stay."

  • TOP NOTCH, kind owners and wonderful facility. A little Shangri-La in North Western North Carolina

"I've used VRBO for a good number of rentals including Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, London and several other US locations on the Coastal / Eastern NC. I have to say, East Fork Farm is a FABULOUS respite from the world. A "foodie" paradise with well-equiped kitchen, beautiful surroundings in a peaceful, pastoral setting. Dawn is top-notch, friendly and responsive. The place is well-kept, clean and perfectly. Private, with high-speed internet and Dish TV. Phone coverage is spotty. . .but they even have that covered with a cell phone at the location for use. Beds are extremely comfortable. And as someone with terrible allergies, I had nary a trouble during my 1/2 week stay. I HIGHLY recommend East Fork Farm and cannot say enough good things about my stay there. Ask Dawn about purchasing their farm eggs, rabbit, chicken and fresh lamb. Gracious goodness, a dream come true for anyone wanting to do some fishing, relaxing with family and eating farm to table food!"

Old Fort Travel Tips

Old Fort Vacation Rentals Serve As Bridge to History

Named in the vein of the "old fort" living that proceeded the Revolutionary War, Old Fort vacation rentals scenically sit just east of Asheville at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, near the head of the Catawba River and just off the Continental Divide. For more than 8,000 years, the cozy Western North Carolina town has reverently provided its lure of old-school charms and southern-styled hospitality. Persistent sounds of nature and flowing mountain air breezes make the appeal of trout or fly-fishing at nearby Newberry Creek all the more enticing. Private Blue Ridge Mountain cabins can offer cozy dining facilities, charmingly enhanced by native stone fireplaces, and fully kitchens replete with modern cabinetry; they also can offer the combination of spacious bedrooms and hand-crafted staircases leading to open-air loft spaces, which make your stay all the more heavenly.

Old Fort Cabin Living, New Age Tourism

At the heart of the Old Fort, Blue Ridge Mountains Resorts beat the pulse of exorbitant, charmed North Carolina living at its most rich and refined. Immerse yourself in attractions ranging from skiing at nearby resorts, hiking any one of several wondrous trails, climbing Grandfather Mountain, or simply chilling out via a rocker under the crystal blue skies and basking sunlight.

Old Fort Lodging, History Fully on Display

Explore North Carolina's history through the prism of a number of world famous museums, including the state-run Mountain Gateway, which features riveting exhibits on pioneer living bolstered by a pair of authentic log cabins from that era. Also, the nearby Carson House boasts exhibits that extensively delve into Civil War lore, including a wildly popular and historic Davy Crockett themed exhibit. And then there are the Appalachian Artisan Gallery and Old Fort Music Hall, where exhibitions exuding both handmade art and bluegrass themed music revues are likewise delightfully common.
