  • PERFECT CABIN FOR A VISIT TO BOONE NC.

"From the time we stepped in the door we knew we made the right choice from the many rentals we reviewed online. The cabin was clean and well stocked with all the amenities you need. The area is very private and quiet makes you not even want to leave the place. The place is easy to find and even though it is gravel it is well maintained and easy to get to. It is a very beautiful place and many thing to do without leaving the cabin. The falls are down below the cabin and well worth the walk down to them. Coleen keep us stock in fresh eggs. They were very good. Coleen gives the place a very friendly atmosphere. She tries to make all her guest feel like family. We really enjoyed talking to her while we was there. The cabin only a short drives from all the main attractions, Grandfather mountain, Blowing Rock and West Jefferson. The grocery store close by also. We live in Arkansas and it was just a wonder place to go to get out of the 100 degree days we have here in August. The temperature never got over 74 degrees while we was on the mountain. We hope to get to make another trip out there next year and stay for a longer visit. Thanks Coleen for being such a great host for our much needed vacation. The Wilkerson's Family."

  • Wonderful cabin

"The cabin and location are lovely. Working with the owner was a pleasure. The cabin was exactly as described. I would recommend, as someone before me recommended, that you arrive in daylight. It can be hard to find in the dark on the day of arrival. It's close to the Parkway...another plus."

  • Beautiful view and perfect location!

"My husband and three boys (15, 12 and 7) stayed here for a week this summer. We were pleasantly surprised at the clever use of space in this chalet! The boys loved the loft bedroom up the winding staircase and the two other bedrooms downstairs made for plenty of room for all of us! The deck has a beautiful view of Grandfather Mtn to enjoy and we had fun using the firepit in the yard below the deck. We were literally right around the corner from Blowing Rock and you can hear the Tweetsie train blow when you are outside of the chalet, which was really neat! The pictures here don't do the cabin justice really, it is decorated very quaintly and it is very clean! We enjoyed our stay and look forward to another visit!"

Old Fort Travel Tips

Old Fort Vacation Rentals Serve As Bridge to History

Named in the vein of the "old fort" living that proceeded the Revolutionary War, Old Fort vacation rentals scenically sit just east of Asheville at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, near the head of the Catawba River and just off the Continental Divide. For more than 8,000 years, the cozy Western North Carolina town has reverently provided its lure of old-school charms and southern-styled hospitality. Persistent sounds of nature and flowing mountain air breezes make the appeal of trout or fly-fishing at nearby Newberry Creek all the more enticing. Private Blue Ridge Mountain cabins can offer cozy dining facilities, charmingly enhanced by native stone fireplaces, and fully kitchens replete with modern cabinetry; they also can offer the combination of spacious bedrooms and hand-crafted staircases leading to open-air loft spaces, which make your stay all the more heavenly.

Old Fort Cabin Living, New Age Tourism

At the heart of the Old Fort, Blue Ridge Mountains Resorts beat the pulse of exorbitant, charmed North Carolina living at its most rich and refined. Immerse yourself in attractions ranging from skiing at nearby resorts, hiking any one of several wondrous trails, climbing Grandfather Mountain, or simply chilling out via a rocker under the crystal blue skies and basking sunlight.

Old Fort Lodging, History Fully on Display

Explore North Carolina's history through the prism of a number of world famous museums, including the state-run Mountain Gateway, which features riveting exhibits on pioneer living bolstered by a pair of authentic log cabins from that era. Also, the nearby Carson House boasts exhibits that extensively delve into Civil War lore, including a wildly popular and historic Davy Crockett themed exhibit. And then there are the Appalachian Artisan Gallery and Old Fort Music Hall, where exhibitions exuding both handmade art and bluegrass themed music revues are likewise delightfully common.
