"Just home from our second visit. First was in spring last year. Loads to do in the area. Hiking the property, hiking a section of the Appalachian Trail on White Top mountain (view of 3 states all at once, VA, NC and TN), cycling on the Virginia Creeper Trail, hiking in Grayson Highlands State Park (wish we'd had more time there), enjoying the creek (kids swam, adults waded), eating super tasty vegetables grown right on the property (tomatoes, corn, lettuces, cucumber, cantaloupe, peppers, etc), visiting Blowing Rock and West Jefferson.
We didn't spend much time in the cabins because we were usually out and about enjoying the area, but did very much enjoy long leisurely breakfasts on the deck. Beds are comfortable. There are board games so there's no reason to be bored on a rainy day. Towels are very nice; better than we have here at home. Kitchen is well stocked; highly recommend that you get some veggies from Joe and Sally to enjoy with the food you bring. We also bought some delicious things at the Blowing Rock Farmer's Market, which Joe and Sally had recommended. They also suggested the cheese store in West Jefferson. I've never seen such an extensive selection of cheeses.
My 2-wheel-drive city car can't make it up the country driveway so it's a wonderful perk that there is a vehicle available to use to get luggage up and down the hill. We also walked up and down to the creek and our car. Good work out!"

"Owner provided a brand new tempur topper for mattress because I mentioned I had a back sprain. This was very kind! Hot tub jets didn't work (no matter how many buttons we pushed, lol), but it was a cozy and cute place, very clean! Yes, we had upstairs neighbors as mentioned in earlier reviews, but it was not a problem, and still felt private, and it had a huge yard for my pups to run around in. Thanks for allowing pets to come, it always makes me feel more at home to have my dogs with me. This is a 30 minutes drive from the ski hills, but it was a very last minute getaway on the busiest ski weekend of the year, so I was happy to have a cozy, clean place available. If you're looking to hang out in Boone, its very close by and has some great local restaurants."

"Charming old fashioned cottage....beautiful scenery and. Although we didn't have a chance to use it. There was an awesome firepit creekside. We were very comfortable...after long days at sliding rock and other attractions, it was great to come back with delicious, healthy takeout options from the Hendersonville community co op. We spent one night "glamping" at thewoodds nearby then were delighted to come to the cottsge for a hot shower and ,A/C. We will return to this charming cottage! PS the kids loved rafting in the creek"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend getaway! The home is gorgeous, with everything we could have wanted and all of our needs anticipated! The mountain views and beautiful vistas were just what we needed to relax! Waking with the roosters and watching the cows munch lazily on fresh grass were among the many wildlife encounters we enjoyed. The birds were not only beautiful to listen to, but to watch as well! We even saw wild turkeys running along the roadside! We had a blast shopping in West Jefferson, at the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis and Gem Mining in Boone! It was a tad too cool for us to enjoy the river, but we definitely have that on our list for our next visit! We loved preparing and enjoying meals in the huge kitchen together! The beds were perfect, we slept like babies! This truly was a perfect place to get away from it all! We are already planning our next visit! We highly recommend this home!"
