  • Wonderful rental unit with lovely view!

"My husband and I had a lovely week renting the upper floor of this unit. The pictures in the listing are very accurate for this unit. What they do not show, however, is the wonderful view from the balcony and from the picture windows in the living room! We thoroughly enjoyed the mountain views from this unit; they are superb and restful---not another cabin in sight from the balcony! I could hardly restrain myself from taking picture after picture from the balcony, trying to catch the different moods of the clouds and the time of day. We were even graced with an exquisite rainbow one evening! We also enjoyed watching the birds at the feeder on the porch (plus the occasional squirrel who managed to find a way to steal birdseed) and the hummingbirds at the hummingbird feeder. This unit was very clean and comfortable, and Gail was extremely responsive and attentive. Even thought the weather was rainy on some of our days, we were able to enjoy trips to Mount Mitchell (highest peak east of the Mississippi), Beech Mountain (highest town east of the Rocky Mountains, with a fun store, Fred's Mercantile, which stocks a little bit of everything!), Little Switzerland (delicious lunch at the Little Switzerland cafe, and fun browsing at the Books and Beans 3-story bookstore), and several craft studios/galleries. We also enjoyed drives along the Blue Ridge Parkway and drives around Burnsville and surrounding areas looking for quilt blocks on some of the nine "quilt trails" in the area (see http://www.quilttrailswnc.org/ for information). We look forward to renting this unit again sometime and/or renting the larger 4 bedroom unit for a family reunion. Please do be aware that these units are up a winding, gravel mountain road. If your car sits lower to the ground than the average car you may have a bit of trouble. but our "ordinary" car did just fine with careful driving."

  • Amazing Lakehouse weekend getaway!

"We rented this lakehouse with a group of friends and our dog. We had an amazing time. The house was very nice, and the resort is incredible- lots to offer. The downstairs area with the tv, pool table, foosball and bar is where we stayed for a majority of the time, if we were not outside on the lake using all of the boats that were available for us to use! We also went to Chimney Rock which is a lot of fun. We have already discussed coming back here next time during the summer. Scott was very friendly and prompt with anything we needed as well. Overall, an excellent stay, and now we wished we would have stayed longer!"

  • Outdoor Adventure

"We visited this cabin for a long weekend of trout fishing, sightseeing and hiking. It is in an excellent location and the amenities were exactly what I was looking for and what was described in the listing. This cabin is about a 15-20 minute ride from Boone, NC. The fishing and outdoor activities around the area are great. Bottom line is… if you are looking to not look at your phone, check your Facebook or be bothered and relax by a crackling fire that sits right next to a beautiful rushing creek then this is absolutely the place for you. If you're looking for WIFI access and full access entertainment (this place does have full DirectTV) then why are you trying to rent cabin in the woods in the first place? I'm sure there is a Super 8 somewhere close to Boone. Also, there were no issues with the water. Seems like that is a hot topic on this review board and i can confirm that there are no issues. This place is great and I will most definitely be booking this again in the very near future."
