  • Heaven on Earth!

"This is the third year that my extended family has chosen to vacation at Journey's End. Walking into the house immediately takes one back to the lazy, stress-free, days of their childhood. Journey's End has been in Terry's family for generations and she has managed to re-create the old-fashioned, beachy feel of a coastal summer retreat. She even has her grandparents vintage fiesta dinnerware prominently displayed in the kitchen. Don't be mislead in to thinking that she has sacrificed comfort: the kitchen is fully stocked, the linens are wonderfully soft and the internet is awesome. After you use the outside shower once, you will wonder why Terry went to the trouble to install a shower inside. (It's a great, out of the way, place to store your suitcases!) Sit on the sleeping porch and watch the marine traffic on the Neuse. We saw dolphins just about day. The squirrels in the back yard provided us with hours of entertainment. And the concrete dock offered a wonderful place to fish any time of the day or night. The air traffic into and out of the Cherry Point Air Station (just across the river) proved to be fascinating to most of us. The local people are welcoming and helpful. Who knows? One of them might share the location of the "secret" beach where seaglass can be found. As if there isn't enough to do at Journey's End, it takes about an hour to get to Beaufort where you can learn about pirates, see ponies, go shelling and swimming and have a wonderful meal. Don't forget to visit the smallest Wal-Mart in the world in Oriental. (Note: don't confuse this Wal-Mart with the regular one in Grantsboro.) And go have a Pepsi at it's birthplace in New Bern. When you are tired of going and doing, come home to Journey's End, grab a book and take your turn in the hammock. Journey's End is the quintessential vacation destination. Who could ask for anything more?"

  • Great place to stay!

"This was our first time to the area. The condo was clean and equipped for eating in if you desired. The owners were quick to respond to my many questions before and during my trip. A wonderful extra was the storage closet downstairs with the use of beach chairs and boogie boards. We appreciated the restaurant suggestions. We enjoyed paddle boarding, kayaking, crabbing, and fishing on the sound. I would stay here again and recommend this condo for anyone vacationing in the area!!!! Thanks for sharing your home."
