  • Family Vacation

"The Pine Island area is very nice - great trails, tennis courts and pools; it was a nice change of pace from the beach. The house was nicely decorated. The sunroom off the kitchen was a great place to read or enjoy some quiet time. The kitchen was well appointed - it was super helpful that the cabinets were marked with its contents. The game room in the lower level was a big hit with the kids. The room darkening blinds are an added bonus - no one wants to wake up to early on vacation. However, the mattress in our bedroom (LL - Queen) was one of the worst mattresses I have ever spent a night on. It was in very bad shape - springs sticking out and collapsing in the middle. I also have to question if it was actually a queen sized bed - it appeared to be a full. My sons stayed in the room with the daybeds and there were visible, rusty springs sticking out of the trundle mattress. I cannot speak on the condition of the other beds, but the owners could really stand to invest in some new mattresses for the LL rooms. There was a maintenance problem when we arrived (leaking outside pipe) that caused the bedroom floor in the LL daybed room to be soaked. The owner knew about the problem prior to arrival and had it taken care of the next day. With that, the LL was very damp and humid. I am not sure if it was due to the water soaking the carpet or if it is always like that because it is the LL. A dehumidifier would do wonders down there."

  • Family Friendly

"My family and extended family (6 adults and 6 kids ages 7,6,6,5,1,9mo) enjoyed this home for the spaciousness, with many rooms and bathrooms. Accommodations are simple and very comfortable, although somewhat dated. The pool and hot tub were wonderful and the walk to the beach was easy and convenient. Owner was extremely pleasant and flexible. We would definitely stay here again."

  • Our home away from home!

"Thank you Dennis and Julie for sharing your beautiful home with us again! "Wish you were here" is the perfect get away! The house is immaculate, comfortable, quiet and beautifully decorated! We had everything we needed, and enjoyed every minute of our stay! We truly felt at home with the soft sheets and towels, nice hot showers in pretty bathrooms, fully appointed kitchen with top notch appliances, and we made good use of the laundry washer and and dryer. The beach is VERY close and easy to get to via the nice walkways in the neighborhood. We enjoyed the sunrises, pelicans/other sea birds, collecting shells and just sitting and reading on the beach. We used the beach cart, umbrella, chairs and cooler provided at the house. The weather was mostly in the low 70s and one day it was 87 degrees. The beach is quiet and used by couples and families ....We were further spoiled by the wonderful heated pool and top deck, where we took pictures of the sunset over the sound, saw the light from Currituck Lighthouse in the evenings, and one night we watched a huge ship pass by on the ocean. Other fun stuff included trips to Sanctuary Vineyards, Manteo (Elizabethan Gardens and Full Moon Brewery for lunch), Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (saw the beach house from the movie, Nights in Rodanthe, along the way), shopping in Corolla and Duck, and seafood takeout from Steamers. We are repeat guests (stayed July 2011 and May 2015) and highly recommend "Wish you were here"!"

  • Amazing House!

"We had a great time in the Outer Banks and loved our vacation home. The only thing I would suggest is making the entertainment system a little more user friendly - we had to play around before we could get the tv to work, and never did figure out how to change the radio station or hook up an ipod. But that was a minor drawback and we still loved our stay!"
