"Our family of 11 arrived from all over to spend a week together. This home was perfect. It had all of the amenities that anyone could possibly need. The kitchen was well stocked with just about everything in the line of cookware and dishes. The two refrigerators in the kitchen were great. They never ran out of ice either. There was also another fridge in the lower level. Everyone in our group made comment about how comfortable the beds were. We all slept very well. We had vollleyball games using the court in the side yard as well as the bag toss game. The beach is only a short walk from the front door. The beach is private so there were no crowds at all. The water was warm and just rough enough to give all of us good exercise. In the evening when it is dark it is worth the walk back to the beach with flashlights to watch the crabs running around on the sandbar. They are small crabs and not the kind you would eat but it was fun watching them run away when the light hit them. We brought all kinds of items to go crabbing but all you really need is a string and a chicken drumstick tied to it. We caught more crabs with that then the trap and string is cheap. One of our group went fishing at the beach and caught a bucket of fish. He had a great time. Friends had told us before we went that the drinking water is not good. That is not true the water was just fine. We had use of the golf cart. That was the greatest. I would not hesitate to rent this home again. It is in a perfect location and has everything one could ask for. Sherri is a great landlord and even calls to make sure everything is OK while you are there. If we went again we would plan to arrive late in the day after 7pm. The traffic is horrible with everyone arriving at OBX around the same time. Part of our group arrived around 7:30 and had no traffic at all where we spent over 2 hours just trying to get on the island. Don't even give a second thought about renting this home. It is perfect in every way, close to the lighthouse, stores, beach and horse country."

"Our second time in this house. Everything as described and expected. The owner is pleasant and promptly responds to any needs or problems. The weather and design of the home allowed for a great outer banks open air experience most of the time. A truly unique and affordable family experience."

"The Pine Island area is very nice - great trails, tennis courts and pools; it was a nice change of pace from the beach. The house was nicely decorated. The sunroom off the kitchen was a great place to read or enjoy some quiet time. The kitchen was well appointed - it was super helpful that the cabinets were marked with its contents. The game room in the lower level was a big hit with the kids. The room darkening blinds are an added bonus - no one wants to wake up to early on vacation. However, the mattress in our bedroom (LL - Queen) was one of the worst mattresses I have ever spent a night on. It was in very bad shape - springs sticking out and collapsing in the middle. I also have to question if it was actually a queen sized bed - it appeared to be a full. My sons stayed in the room with the daybeds and there were visible, rusty springs sticking out of the trundle mattress. I cannot speak on the condition of the other beds, but the owners could really stand to invest in some new mattresses for the LL rooms.
There was a maintenance problem when we arrived (leaking outside pipe) that caused the bedroom floor in the LL daybed room to be soaked. The owner knew about the problem prior to arrival and had it taken care of the next day. With that, the LL was very damp and humid. I am not sure if it was due to the water soaking the carpet or if it is always like that because it is the LL. A dehumidifier would do wonders down there."
