  • Duck Blind Villas

"This is my second stay at Duck Blind Villas. I could not have asked for a better place to stay. It is oceanfront and has a great view of the sunrise. It is nice to just sit on their deck overlooking the ocean and it is great to read a book or drink your coffee. This condo has most everything that you could ask for in a vacation rental. They certainly take pride in their unit. I am not quite sure why they just haven't decided to retire permanently in their slice of heaven. There are some great restaurants in Duck and you are close to so much that the Outer Banks have to offer. There will never be a dull moment here. I can't wait to book my stay next year and enjoy it all over again."

  • Perfect week

"My husband and I dropped our last child at college and took a week at the beach for just us. This cottage was perfect. We have stayed in the OBX at various homes over the past twenty years and this was hands down the best appointed cottage. It is beautifully decorated, spotless, has beautiful decks and a relaxing hammock and swing. The kitchen is the best outfitted kitchen of any beach house we have ever been in. It lacked nothing and I like to cook! Top it off with great views (easy beach access) and an incredible week of weather, we could not have had a better vacation. I cannot wait to return!"

  • Family vacation

"The home is very well maintained and accurately described. Bedrooms accommodate 3 families with ease. There are plenty of games and books for rainy days. Thankfully it is a short walk to either side of the island as well as the private beach. Getting in the car to travel is a challenge. Having experienced Cape Cod traffic, this was much more congested. An expected 5 hour drive from D.C. on Saturday morning took 10 hours. We were told after the fact that many people come a day early and stay in a hotel and leave the day before checkout. I found that idea very costly. So we left at 6 a.m. on Saturday. Traveling on the island is easier but expect it to be 'city traffic'. We recommend Corolla and taking in the Lost Colony performance as well as kayaking. etc. There was plenty for everyone to do. The grill is small so cooking for a crowd is a challenge. My one complaint was with the booking agency, Elan. Once I expressed interest in renting, I received phone calls before 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. asking if I had decided. One agent became very rude when I asked about an unclear charge on the contract. Granted we live in a different time zone but I would think a professional agency would be used to that. I was told someone else wanted the week we had chosen and that was the reason for the pressure. Nonetheless it left me with a negative impression of the agency and I will avoid them in the future. But if you can overcome that hurdle, it is a nice spot for a family gathering."

  • just like home

"We came to celebrate our parents 60th wedding anniversary. It was the perfect location on a quiet cul de sac. Camp George is a lovely home where you can truly relax and enjoy family time. It has everything you'll need from beach chairs and umbrellas to blenders and coffee pots. My parents took full advantage of the screened porch and deck while I used the boogie board! One of the best features was the kindness and attention to detail of the owners. Patty kept in touch just enough to make sure all was going well. We also loved Duck. It is a beautiful town with shops to browse and lots to do. My Labrador loved the beach just a short walk from the cottage."
