Recent Northern Coast & Outer Banks reviews

  • Excellent home away from home

"We visited the Outer Banks the week of Sept 21. Our experience with Leaping Porpoise was marvelous. Chuck and Barbara are excellent hosts. We found the house to be immaculate and the furnishings are beautiful. Everything we would need was already furnished which made that much less for us to bring. We were a short distance from the beach and they even furnished everything to take to the beach. Our experience with this house was more than I expected. The hot tub was really nice. The weather could have been better but with the tv and wi-fi, we never got bored. We have been to the Outer Banks many times and this is the nicest place we have ever stayed. We do not have small children or grandchildren but they have many things to entertain children. We hope to go back next year and hopefully we will be able to rent this house again. You will not be disappointed if you rent this house. Another plus is the owners only live 2 houses away and are available if you need them. I had read other reviews before renting and did not find anything negative. I would recommend this house to anyone. It has 4 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths which makes it ideal for most families. We really enjoyed our stay! If you like seafood, I would recommend Tale of the Whale. We have eaten there many times and the flounder is excellent and you definitely get your money's worth and it is located on the water which gives you a great view while eating."

  • Lucille and her B&B are fantastic!

"We stayed at Fiddler's Green for 2 nights recently, and had a wonderful time. The accommodations were perfectly-sized for our family of 3, very comfortable and clean. And Lucille is a top-notch host! Had we needed to ask for anything, there is no doubt Lucille would have provided immediately, but everything was there for us. We will be back for sure!!!"

  • Perfect spot!

"We were looking for a vacation rental that would accommodate a boat and we were lucky enough to find The Ice House! The house is very comfortable and the location is great! We were able to launch the boat and store the trailer at a marina just around the corner. It was great having the boat right in the back yard! A great beach access is just a quick ride down the road making it the perfect location for the surfers in our group. My husband and his friend caught 2 croaker off the dock in the backyard the first morning! They were quickly cleaned and served for breakfast! What a great way to start the vacation! The week included off shore fishing, flounder gigging at night, crabbing off the dock, and clamming in the sound. You really can't ask for more! The owner is extremely nice and very helpful. Sharing his knowledge of the local waterway was beyond helpful! The location does come with a "price". The house is in an unusual location, not exactly a neighborhood. We loved that we were pretty much by ourselves. Be prepared to unplug. TV and internet access are not the best, but that is part of being on the island. Once we got used to it, life is much better without TV and computer! The cargo lift is another one of the best things about this house. Moving in and moving out was SO MUCH EASIER! The second sink in the kitchen turned out to be something else we all liked a lot. The view from the top of the house is spectacular! Sunsets are something to be celebrated and you couldn't ask for a better place for that! My whole family loved the set up of the deck too. All in all, this is a great vacation home! You won't go wrong if you choose The Ice House for your vacation rental!"

  • Great Condo with great location

"Property was totally as described. We would recommend this property to anyone interested - great views, next to the free ferry and the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. Charter fishing available next door as well as shopping and Tiki Bar & sandwich shop. Groceries 1 mile away - small but has everything you need without price gouging. Lots of great restaurants nearby - Sonny's, Dinky's, Captains Table, Rusty's - NOT Billfish. Lighthouses to visit. Free ferry to Orcacoke Island next door - drive 16 miles to Ocracoke Village - great day trip and neat little village. Permits available to drive 4X4 onto the beach on both islands."

Edenton Travel Tips

Edenton Beach House Rentals: Fine Old-South Living

North Carolina's coastline is one of the most beautiful places in the United States. Travelers flock to this coast by the thousands each year to enjoy the majestic scenery, pristine beaches, and remnants of the Old South. There's no place more reminiscent of the Colonial South than Edenton. Considered the South's prettiest small town, Edenton rests along the shores of Albemarle Sound. When visiting, Edenton beach house rentals will meet lodging needs in an extraordinary way. Edenton homes are quaint bungalows and historic homes that adhere to the Victorian and Greek-revival architecture so commonly found about this wondrous village. The former Colonial Capital of North Carolina, Edenton's small-town feel is accentuated by its plantation homes and Civil War history.

History Thrives in Edenton

Walking through history is easy around Edenton homes. Seek out the Historic Edenton Visitor's Center, located in the Ziegler House, erected in 1892. After viewing a short program on Edenton's roots, stroll through exhibits before stopping in the gift shop for a pamphlet to help locate other historic sites in town. The Cupola house has called North Carolina's shores its home since 1758, when it was built by Francis Corbin. Since that time, it's been home to a tea room, museum, and library. Standing tall since 1782, the Barker House is open for public tours with staff on-hand to answer any questions.

A Paddler's Paradise Near Edenton

Surrounded by water, Edenton beach house rentals are near ample boating opportunities. Alligator River Canoe and Small Boat Trail is a portion of the Albemarle Region Canoe and Small Boat Trails System. This winding stream takes boaters through postcard-perfect forests and marshes. With three different sections, this trail offers paddlers short or long excursions. An Old-South retreat waits at the end of the day at Outer Banks vacation rentals, where travelers feel right at home.
