  • Great week - LOTS of things do - only one issue

"I wish I could give partial stars, as I would give this property a 4.7 out of 5, but that is not an option. The only issue we had with the property is its' proximity to Highway 12. It sits right next to Hwy 12, and if you are a light sleeper, like me, the road noise is tough to handle. I was up at 6:30 every morning and could not get back to sleep. The house itself was great. Freshly painted inside and out and had nice furnishings. All appliances and electronics were in good working order, to include fridge, stove, microwave, washer, dryer, dishwasher, TVs/remotes and arcade games. We struggled with the sensor bar on the Wii, but that was a minor issue. The pool and hot tub were very clean. One note: If the pool was not heated the week before you arrive, it may take 1+ days to come up to tempature. The kitchen was very well equipped with pots, pans, untensils and dishes. Wi-fi worked well throughout the house. The sport court was a huge hit, and would REALLY benefit all of you that have active children like me. Sun Realty was very responsive to our concerns (primarily pool heat). Matt (the owner) is by far the most engaged owner I have every encountered. This included before, during and after our visit. Lisa's Pizzaria (100 yards away) was a good eat out option within walking dustance, but we ate in most nights. One item to note unrelated to the house, I was amazed at how many buisnesses on the OBX are no longer taking credit/debit cards. We had this happen at least once a day to include but not limited to: fishing charter, ice cream shop, putt putt and national parks. All in all a great week."

  • Best Ocean Front Beach Cottage

"We traveled from NY to the Outer Banks and were welcomed by Rose Cottage in Rodanthe. Very comfortable and well appointed. Steps from beach. Cottage had everything. Frank & Beverly were very helpful in assisting us, making recommendations prior to our visit. Weather was perfect. Rose Cottage has been a perfect place for our family retreat. Bedrooms are very comfortable and outside decks, with extraordinary views, were priceless. Thanks so much; we will booking during 2015."

  • Fabulous

"We spent a week at Jersey Girl in early September with five adults, two babies, and a three year old. This was the second time to the OBX for the wife and I and the first for the other couple. Two weeks removed from the trip and we have rebooked Jersey Girl for the same slot next year ! Likes We made lots of big meals for breakfast and dinner. The kitchen was well stocked with pretty much everything you can think of for cooking. We brought our own waffle iron and I’ll bring a lemon/lime juicer next year. While the house is a couple back from the beach, it’s a super easy quick walk down the road to the boardwalk to get to the beach. The dunes are really small in this area so once you hit the boardwalk, you’re steps from the beach (not the case with all of the OBX). You can hear and see the beach from the deck. The kiddie pool was a bit hit and a major reason for not looking elsewhere next year. We’ll like it even more next year when the two babies are walking. The house had pretty much all the toys you need for the pool and beach including noodles, lots of beach chairs, and two carts that were very helpful for schlepping your stuff to the beach. The pool area has a nice shaded section and a small shed with a fridge and storage area. The house is very clean, well-decorated, and nice craftsmanship with the woodwork (cabinets/trim/etc.). We had two minor issues that were both resolved within 18 hours. All that glitters is not gold… The house is next to a big condo resort so when you’re on the deck at night, one view is of a lit up parking lot and condos. Takes away from the remoteness of the OBX. Wifi was spotty from first floor and non-existent from the pool. Great AT&T cell reception though. Agree with owner that if it was important, I should have contacted wifi provider to resolve. We streamed videos to our tablet just fine from the top floor. The same problem as other VRBO kitchens I’ve experienced – dull knives and not enough space to dump all your kitchen stuff for the week without chewing up precious counter space. We brought a lot of kitchen stuff with us so your experience may vary."
