  • A+ Amenities - Beautiful - Clean!

"Four extended families had the pleasure of sharing this beautiful house. The pictures are accurate but they don't emit the warmth and comfort this house affords. Our family of 11 all fit comfortably around the dining room table with the youngest in her high-chair. There were two wall ovens, two dishwashers, two islands, two cooktops. two very nice trashcans and a recyclable can. The designer of this house used space brilliantly especially in the kitchen. We had four people all preparing dinner at the same time without being in each others way. Wonderful!! Two dishwashers made clean-up a breeze. The amenities were pretty, functional and high-end. The owners even included a standing magnifying mirror in each bathroom. what a plus for all of us who find ourselves saying multiple times a day - 'where are my glasses'. There was a large soft rug in the living room area which was a perfect place for a three year old and a 7 month old to play and roll around, put puzzles together, zoom cars and read books. The furniture was super comfortable and sturdy. two big chairs, perfect for reading, were on either side a nice reading lamp and each had an ottoman. The pool area was very spacious - very safe - access to the pool required an adult to open the high latch on both the front and back pool entry doors. There was an outside bathroom and shower. Also a clothesline. At street level, a lattice covered storage area housed boogie boards, beach chairs, beach toys, kites, strollers, beach wagons. There were also large trash cans and cans for recyclables. This place made 11 people very happy with their surroundings. Dealing with the owner was a pleasure from my first inquiry through the final transaction. Bridget was so pleasant, real and sincere. I appreciate all the effort the owners put into creating such a warm, welcoming and lovely home to share with all of us renters. Thank You."

  • A great rental at a great price. Private and Content

"We had the most relaxing and enjoyable vacation ever at this rental . Plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The layout was perfect for our group. The pool and hot tub were a big hit and the putting green was a especially fun. Plenty of good restaurants in the area and the walk out on the dock to see the sun set over the Pamlico Sound was an evening ritual. We will be back."

  • What a Wonderful Week for a Moondance!

"Our family just completed a family vacation with members coming in from three states. All of us enjoyed the comfortable, homey feel of Moondance (and there was a Full Moon!). The decks and the porch swing were relaxing favorites as well as oceanside walks and quick dips into the surf by a very excited Labrador Retriever! The outdoor shower was perfect for cleaning him afterward. Nearby we found a secluded spot to enjoy the sound - perfectly beautiful with the water so still you could see the billowy white clouds reflected. The house was equipped with everything needed to prepare meals and enjoy our time together. The quiet neighborhood was ideal for walks and the pool and hot tub were enjoyed as well. We are planning to come back!"

  • A great place to stay

"This very well-designed summer home was nicely furnished and appointed and very well-equipped in all regards, including the kitchen and its appliances, the clothes washer and dryer, the two bathrooms, dvd player and TVs, as well as the outdoor ground floor shower and fish cleaning station, which unfortunately we never had occasion to use. The screened porch provided an additional nice space for fresh air during some colossally inclement weather. The location is superb, being only a short walk from the ocean beach, and an easy walk from a bike rental shop, an ice cream shop, a kind of general store, the US Post Office, a delicatessen, and a fish store that was closed due to the lateness of the season during our visit. The owners were extremely pleasant and helpful. We had a great time, despite some wild, windy, and occasionally very wet weather that stirred the ocean into a somewhat turbulent and menacing state. Although we did not swim in the ocean, we did a lot of barefoot walking in and out of the ocean surf at numerous places along the National Seashore, rode bikes down to the Salvo sound-side park and beach, and enjoyed numerous longer trips to the Pea Island refuge, different lighthouses, the Wright Brothers museum to the north, and to the Weather Station and Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum in Hatteras Village. From our explorations from Hatteras Village to the Kill Devil Hills, we concluded that this VRBO home was for us in the very best location on the Outer Banks. We would happily recommend this VRBO to anyone."

Salvo Travel Tips

Salvo Beach House Rentals: Quiet and Stress Free

Lighthouse enthusiasts are in heaven when visiting North Carolina's Outer Banks. These monolithic spires of brick and mortar have protected seafaring men and women for centuries, and many still work today. When a lighthouse-viewing excursion is in the works, consider Salvo beach house rentals to meet lodging needs in an extraordinary way. With several Salvo homes to choose from, families and large groups are sure to find the perfect place to enjoy a Hatteras Island stay. Salvo beach house rentals range from luxurious sound-front or ocean-view homes with game rooms, home gyms, and hot tubs to cozy cottages offering seclusion, privacy, and stress-free living.

Lighthouses Galore at the Outer Banks

The Outer Banks are barrier islands just over 50 miles in length. Many lighthouses rest along these shores and are within driving distance from Salvo homes. The most notable light, Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, is the nation's tallest and most recognized lighthouse. It was originally built in 1797. Visitors may climb over 260 stairs and take in the awe-inspiring views from the top. Bodie Island Lighthouse, a 15-story lighthouse, was rebuilt three times in the 1800s. Its beacon shines 19 miles out to sea. Currituck Beach Lighthouse stands at 158 feet and was built in 1875. This brick and mortar spire is unpainted, making it possible to see the various bricks used during construction. Ocracoke Lighthouse emits a constant beam from its 75-foot summit and shines 14 miles off the shoreline to guide ships around the treacherous sandbars known as the Diamond Shoals.

Some Don't fit the Mold

Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse doesn't necessarily fit the prototypical mold for lighthouses, but it is actually a screwpile lighthouse modeled after the previous light that dominated its location for nearly 80 years. Centrally located, Outer Banks vacation rentals are perfectly nestled amongst these wonderful, historic landmarks.
