"Words cannot even begin to describe the amazing week we enjoyed at Hatteras Beach House. Planning a trip in October can always be hit or miss, since the weather can be so unpredictable, but we were lucky to have had perfect weather all week, with highs in the mid to upper 70's and lows in the upper 60's to low 70's. Falling asleep every night to the sound of the waves crashing gave me the best sleep I've had in months. Everyone in our family had the same peaceful sleeping experience listening to the waves as we fell asleep on the comfortable beds in bedrooms that are all oceanfront. The house was extremely clean, with furnishings that made you really feel at home. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to prepare home cooked meals that were served on the beautiful dining room table looking out at the ocean. We used the grill one night for lobster and shrimp, which let us have a wonderful seafood meal with better scenery than any restaurant. The decks provided ample room for everyone to sit outside on the deck chairs and watch the wind surfers and beach walkers. We walked the beach daily and took hundreds of pictures of the beautiful sunrises and ocean waves. I really can't say enough about this beautiful home and it's location. The elevator was extremely convenient to transport our groceries and luggage. The pantry provided a good space for all of our non-perishable items and the refrigerator and wine cooler on the first floor provided enough room for all of our cold items and drinks. We also enjoyed playing a game of pool and using the theater room to watch Sunday football. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly and we will definitely be returning to Hatteras Beach House in the future. Thank you again for giving us the opportunity to enjoy your home and experiencing one of the most enjoyable vacations we've had in a very long time."

  • Great owner. Great property. Everything we hoped it would be.

"The owner of this property was a delight to work with. His communication was always prompt and helpful. He clearly knows what he is doing and earned our trust every step of the way. He was helpful and reasonable. In like manner, the property was perfect. It is very clean and extremely well maintained. The four bedrooms are all on the entry floor and nicely laid out with plenty of storage space in each room. The laundry is also on the first floor, off the hallway, and worked well. The upstairs was a great space to hang out and relax. The air hockey game was a nice treat. There are three outdoor decks. The open deck, a screened in room and an roof-top deck reached by ladder. The view is very nice. We could watch the sunrises and sunsets with ease. There was even a lunar eclipse while we visited and we had a perfect view of the event. The eclipse to the west and the sunrise to the east. Wow! The property is conveniently located on the south end of Avon, just a short distance from the big grocery store and hardware store. Lots of good restaurants nearby (we loved Pangea's Tavern, Lo Fogata and the Frozen Yogurt place). There is also easy access to the beach and to the bike trail. We could hear the crashing waves from the porches. Bottom line? You can feel safe with this owner and property. Highly recommended."

  • WONDERFUL OBX WEEKEND!

"We had a great time at Dancing Gull. It's a great house and very comfortable. All the amenities are exactly as described and the house was very clean and inviting. The location was great and the owner was a pleasure to work with. We could not have asked for a better OBX retreat!! We will definitely be staying at this house again. Thank you so much!!"

  • What a FUN house!

"We stayed in "The Big House" for a family reunion; my wife and I, and our 2 daughters and sons-in-law. We had a great time. We all really loved the house, and especially enjoyed the "scenic" walk from the driveway. Every time we made that walk, we discovered something new! We also loved having our own "disco", by turning off all the lights, except the ones on the disco balls! Love the screened in porch with the hammock and the swing; there was always a nice breeze there. View from the upper balcony overlooking the sound is spectacular, especially at sunset. We had a great time exploring the Outer Banks, as well. Following are must do's (In no particular order): Get an ugly at the Orange Blossom Cafe in Buxton Take an nap in the hammock in the screened in porch Have dinner at Cafe Pamlico (at the Inn) in Buxton Go kayaking/SUP/sailing/wave running at Hatteras Watersports in Salvo (so much cheaper than anywhere else, and a nice property on the sound) Play golf at Nags Head Golf Links (Bring plenty of golf balls!) Use the supplied beach umbrella/beach chairs early and often (at the beach!) Have dinner while watching the sunset from the upper balcony Take the ferry and spend a day on Ocracoke. Tour a lighthouse (the one in Buxton is the tallest; it's like walking up 12 stories) Eat at Rustys in Buxton Eat at Ketch 55 in Avon Get a pizza from Gidgets in Avon Get ice cream at Cup and Cone in Avon (you can probably get one to share for two or three!) Walk on the beach at night, and see LOTS of sand crabs and stars And, if you get bored, try to figure out what the 40+ light switches in the main room do!"
